We had a busy month of May. Our team interviewed 64 upcoming restaurant and food truck owners, and you can get all the details below.

Brevard County

Modern Asian Curated Streetfoods — Melbourne

Address: 2431 Town Center Ave., Melbourne, FL 32940

Status: Coming to Lakeside Social, which is targeting a July 4 grand opening.

What to expect: A permanent food truck spot inside Lakeside Social, a new Viera food truck and entertainment development from The Viera Company. The broader project is expected to include six food trucks, outdoor music and a bar area.

Menu highlights: Asian street food with Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese and Korean influences. The team plans to rotate the menu and highlight different countries over time.

Hours: Lakeside Social is planned to operate seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Specific hours for Modern Asian Curated Streetfoods are still to be announced.

North Jetty Grill — Jacksonville

Address: 10980 Heckscher Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32226

Status: Operating at Huguenot Memorial Park.

What to expect: A full park concession operation with a walk-up stand, food truck service, a sub truck, a hot dog cart, Kona Ice, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee and recreation rentals. The main stand sits near the RV sites, campground and playground with views of the St. Johns River.

Menu highlights: Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, shrimp, nachos, fries, ice cream, boiled peanuts, sodas and other beach-and-campground staples.

Hours: Seven days a week during the busy May–August season. Fall and winter hours shift to Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

What to expect: A full-service restaurant with about 90 indoor seats and a window where guests can watch noodles and dumplings being made by hand.

Menu highlights: Fresh noodles, handmade dumplings, steamed and fried dumplings, beef noodle soup, pork buns, Mongolian beef, orange beef, popcorn chicken and boba tea.

Address: Sometimes planned near Skin Unlimited, 1519 Caesary Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32211; permanent location still being sought.

Status: Targeting a launch between Aug. 15 and Sept. 1.

What to expect: A food trailer serving Clay, Duval and surrounding counties with brunch available throughout the day.

Menu highlights: Shrimp and grits, smothered pork chops and grits, breakfast in a cup with salmon patties, chicken and waffles, rotating soul food options and fresh-squeezed lemonades.

What to expect: A drive-thru-only coffee and energy drink concept with an order-ahead app and walk-up pickup window.

Status: Targeting an early-to-mid August opening.

What to expect: A full-service barbecue restaurant with 120 seats and a full-service liquor bar.

Menu highlights: Traditional barbecue with the team’s own spin, salad options, handhelds, signature sauces, spreads, barbecue lasagna, weekly specials and a turkey leg.

What to expect: A family-owned and female-owned Jamaican restaurant with dine-in service, takeout, catering, private events, entertainment and patio seating.

Menu highlights: Oxtails, curry goat, jerk sausage, jerk ribs, jerk wings, loaded jerk fries and jerk whole chicken for special events.

La Bonita Taqueria — Webster

Address: Webster area; permanent parking location still being finalized.

Status: Targeting a June 1 opening.

What to expect: A Mexican food truck serving Sumter County and surrounding areas. The team is also looking for a permanent parking location in the Bushnell area and is open to events.

Menu highlights: Tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tortas, flautas, gorditas, tostadas, rice, beans and hot salsas. Proteins are expected to include asada, al pastor, shredded meat and carnitas.

Hours: Planned Monday through Saturday. Weekday hours are expected around 11 a.m.–6 or 7 p.m., with Saturday service potentially running later.

Polynesian BBQ — Okaloosa County

Address: Permanent parking location to be announced.

Status: Targeting an early July opening, pending paperwork and inspections.

What to expect: A Polynesian island barbecue food truck serving Okaloosa County and surrounding areas. The concept draws from Samoan cooking and other island influences.

Menu highlights: Barbecue boneless chicken, ribs, turkey tail, hot dogs, white rice, potato crab salad and sapasui, a Samoan-style noodle dish with corned beef.

Hours: Planned Monday through Saturday from about 10:30 a.m.–6 or 7 p.m., or until sold out.

Locohana Tropical Grill — Destin

Status: Targeting a June 12 opening, though the date could shift to mid-June.

What to expect: A fast-casual tropical grill with Caribbean-inspired tacos, bowls, counter ordering, a full-service bar and indoor-outdoor seating.

Menu highlights: Seared tuna, salmon, jerk chicken, shrimp, conch fritters, bowls, blackened salmon, jerk chicken tacos and tropical cocktails.

Hours: Planned daily from 10:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. during summer. Offseason hours are to be determined.
