WINTER GARDEN, FL – Sprout and Bean, a new indoor play cafe from owners Billy and Rachel Schmidt, is preparing to open in early August at 965 Vineland Rd Unit 130, Winter Garden, FL 34787, Schmidt told Business Debut in a phone interview.
What to Expect
Sprout and Bean pairs a full coffee bar in the front of the space with an indoor playground in the back that is designed for children ages 5 and under, Schmidt told Business Debut. The layout includes a half wall with a countertop dividing the cafe and play area so adults can sit with laptops and coffee while keeping a direct line of sight to their children, Schmidt shared with Business Debut.
The Schmidts have three children, and the concept grew out of their own search for places where young kids could play while parents met friends or worked.
Menu and Vision
Prairie House Coffee will supply coffee, with beans roasted in Orlando. Buttermilk Bakery, also based in Orlando, will deliver baked goods, Schmidt said.
Schmidt described Sprout and Bean as a place where people might come for coffee and pastries even if they do not bring children, with the play area providing an additional draw for families.
The couple self-financed the project and views it as a new creative endeavor after years as full-time touring musicians.
The owners plan recurring programming including weekly live music sessions for young children where kids can use shakers and participate. A yoga partner will lead classes in the cafe area while children play in the playground, with tables moved aside during sessions for yoga.
Sprout and Bean will also host private events, including birthday parties and baby showers on weekends, Schmidt told Business Debut.
Opening Timeline
Sprout and Bean is waiting on a license from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Schmidt told Business Debut. The Schmidts are targeting early August for opening, with a firm date to be announced.
Hours
Sprout and Bean plans to open six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday, and close on Monday, Schmidt told Business Debut. Specific daily operating hours are to be announced.
