Broward County has three notable restaurant openings in the pipeline, including a European-backed Italian concept on Las Olas, a kosher pareve restaurant in Parkland and an expanding family-run barbecue brand in Margate.

Flora Trattoria Italiana — Fort Lauderdale

Address: 1021 E Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301

Status: Targeting an opening by the end of October, ideally before the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

What to expect: Flora Trattoria Italiana will be a large full-service restaurant with about 180 seats split between the dining room and patio. A 36-seat bar will serve as a centerpiece of the space and will be one of the first things guests see from Las Olas Boulevard.

Menu highlights: The concept will lean heavily Italian, with an approximately 80-20 split between Italian and American dishes. Pizza, pasta, fish, meat dishes and sides are planned, while desserts will also receive a strong focus.

Hours: Planned Monday through Friday hours are 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Weekend service will include brunch from 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m., with broader Saturday and Sunday hours still to be announced.

Who’s behind it: Owner Michele Vandenbossch is part of a larger hospitality group with operations in France and elsewhere in Europe. Flora will be the group’s first U.S. restaurant.

What to expect: Sababa Hummus House will be a compact kosher pareve restaurant with about 48 seats and takeout service. Guests will also be able to preorder a Shabbat menu for pickup and serving at home.

Menu highlights: The menu will avoid both meat and dairy, instead focusing on fish, vegetables and lighter dishes. Planned items include Moroccan-style salmon, malawa and hummus.

Hours: Planned hours are 10 a.m.–8 p.m. most operating days. Fridays will end at 5 p.m., and the restaurant will close Saturdays for Shabbat.

Reb's Famous BBQ — Margate

Address: 4976 W Atlantic Blvd, Margate, FL 33063

Status: Targeting a late October 2026 opening.

What to expect: The Margate restaurant will be a major step up in size from Reb’s existing takeout-focused Fort Lauderdale operation. The new location will introduce a full dining area and allow the owners to bring more of their catering menu into everyday restaurant service.

Menu highlights: Smoked ribs and chicken are core offerings, cooked over cherry oak wood on a large rotisserie. Southern sides include baked mac and cheese, seafood rice, collard greens and hand-cut candied yams, while brisket and additional chicken preparations are also planned.

Hours: The current plan calls for Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Hours could change before opening.

Who’s behind it: Lynette and Jerell Mash grew Reb’s Famous BBQ from a home-based operation into a food trailer and later a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. The Margate opening is the next step in the family-owned brand’s growth.
