Here are the upcoming restaurants we've found between Plantation, Dania Beach, Pembroke Pines and Hollywood in the recent weeks. As always, we've interviewed each business owner, and you can read the full articles linked underneath each blurb.
Neo Coffee and Kava — Plantation
Address: 1483 South University Drive, Plantation, FL 33324
Status: Targeting the first week of August.
What to expect: Neo Coffee and Kava is planned as an upscale coffee and kava bar focused on wellness, socializing and alcohol-free gathering. The space will combine a full coffee program, kava bar, spirit-free cocktails and a health-oriented food menu.
Space details: The buildout covers about 2,400 square feet with an open layout, two bars and lounge seating. The interior will feature an industrial design with modern finishes, bar seats and couches for guests who want to work during the day or gather after work.
Menu highlights: Coffee drinks, kava, relaxation drinks and alcohol-free versions of classic cocktails such as mojitos and margaritas. The food menu will focus on high-protein, macro-conscious items with protein, carbs and other counts listed.
Food highlights: Breakfast tacos, avocado toast, grain bowls, salads, sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads, açai bowls, protein shakes, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, small plates and snacks.
Entertainment: Live music is planned, including jazz and similar styles, along with small shows and DJs.
Who’s behind it: Owner Ruth Connors, who also owns Neo Facto Design and is serving as both contractor and designer on the project.

Mystic Social Club — Dania Beach
Address: 242 East Dania Beach Blvd, Dania Beach, FL 33004
Status: Targeting a fall opening.
What to expect: Caribbean-infused social club and restaurant with indoor-outdoor space, music programming and an attached rental lounge. Manager Philmore McCarthy said the goal is to bring a Caribbean feel to Dania Beach.
Menu highlights: Jerk chicken, jerk pork, conch pasta, oxtail pasta, Trinidadian doubles and Bahamian conch salad. The menu will pull from several Caribbean islands.
Entertainment: Mystic Social Club plans to offer a full music program with live DJs and occasional bands. Planned genres include soca, reggae, dancehall, hip-hop, R&B, country and more.
Audience: The location is designed to serve locals, snowbirds and cruise travelers staying in Dania Beach before sailing from Port Everglades.
Hours: Planned six days a week from lunch through dinner, with happy hour. Specific days and hours are still to be announced and will depend on final city approvals.

Keke’s Breakfast Cafe — Hollywood
Address: 5201 Sheridan St, Hollywood, FL 33021
Status: Targeting mid-July, with July 16 as the current goal.
What to expect: New Keke’s Breakfast Cafe location serving the brand’s standard breakfast, brunch and lunch format. The Hollywood restaurant is expected to seat close to 150 guests.
Menu highlights: Made-to-order breakfast and brunch plates with fresh ingredients, generous portions and sit-down cafe service.
Brand details: Keke’s Breakfast Cafe focuses on morning classics and says its kitchens use in-house-ground coffee, hand-cracked eggs, fresh fruit, real butter and whipped cream, with no microwaves.
More to know: Owner Ijmal Ali is also working on additional Keke’s locations in Pembroke Pines, Tucker and McDonough.

Keke’s Breakfast Cafe — Pembroke Pines
Address: 10800 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines, FL 33026
Status: Targeting October.
What to expect: Second South Florida Keke’s Breakfast Cafe location in development from owner Ijmal Ali. The Pembroke Pines restaurant is expected to hold about 130 to 150 seats.
Menu highlights: Breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes made to order, with the brand’s focus on fresh ingredients, generous portions and sit-down daytime dining.
Brand details: Guests can expect the standard Keke’s format, built around morning classics and fresh prep.
Hours: To be announced.
