Big Whiskey’s American Restaurant & Bar — Coral Springs

Address: 3374 North University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33065

Status: Targeting a September opening, with a possible earlier debut in August if construction stays on schedule.

What to expect: A full-service, sports-focused restaurant built for both families and game-day crowds. The space will feature a large dining room, patio seating, and dozens of TVs for watching live events.

Menu highlights: Burgers, wings, steaks, seafood, pastas, and a wide whiskey selection ranging from 50 to 100 options.

Hours:
Monday–Wednesday: 11 a.m.–11 p.m.
Thursday–Friday: 11 a.m.–12:30 a.m.
Saturday: 10:30 a.m.–12:30 a.m.
Sunday: 10:30 a.m.–11 p.m.

Who’s behind it: Steve Swanson, alongside Jacki Swanson and Suzanne Swanson, bringing their restaurant experience into a franchised concept.

Jerry’s Jerk — Fort Lauderdale

Address: 4261 NW 12th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33313

Status: Targeting a June 10 opening, pending final permits.

What to expect: A fast-casual Caribbean restaurant expanding from a passion project into its first brick-and-mortar location. A food truck is also planned as part of the rollout.

Menu highlights: Jerk chicken, jerk pork, curry goat, oxtail, fried chicken, fish, soup, and festival.

Hours: Expected Monday–Saturday, around 11 a.m.–9:30 p.m. (later on weekends).

Who’s behind it: Owner Jerome Lounds, drawing from his Jamaican roots and long-standing passion for cooking.

Abbott’s Frozen Custard — Coconut Creek

Status: Targeting a June 1 opening, with potential to open sooner.

What to expect: A counter-service dessert shop focused on fresh-made frozen custard. The setup is designed for quick service with a small dine-in area.

Menu highlights: Daily rotating custard flavors, cakes, pies, and specialty items like the Turtle and Holy Cannoli.

Hours: Expected daily, roughly 11 a.m.–10 p.m.

Who’s behind it: Owner-operator Ian Osorio, opening the location with his wife as a family-run business.
