COCONUT CREEK, FL — Abbott’s Frozen Custard is targeting a June 1 opening at 6562 N. State Road 7, Coconut Creek, FL 33073, owner-operator Ian Osorio told Business Debut. The shop will mark Osorio’s first location with the brand and is expected to bring Abbott’s long-running frozen custard concept to South Florida.

What to Expect

The Coconut Creek shop will be a counter-service location with about 12 seats inside, Osorio told Business Debut. Guests will order at the counter and pick up their custard at the other end, in a setup designed for quick service and grab-and-go visits.

Osorio said the shop will carry eight flavors daily, including staples such as vanilla and chocolate. He also said guests can expect cakes, pies, and catering options for events, groups, and conferences.

Abbott’s traces its roots back to 1902, when Arthur Abbott developed the recipe, and the first stand opened in Rochester, New York, in 1926, Osorio told Business Debut. Osorio said the Coconut Creek store is expected to be the brand’s 43rd location.

“I wanted to bring something to South Florida that I thought was the best,” Osorio told Business Debut. He said he first tried Abbott’s in Vero Beach and decided to bring the concept south after being struck by the texture and flavor.

Osorio said one of his favorite menu items is the Turtle, which layers vanilla custard with Spanish peanuts and a hard chocolate shell. His favorite custard flavor is Holy Cannoli, a cheesecake-flavored custard mixed with crushed cannoli shell, he told Business Debut.

The custard will be made fresh daily in-house, with machines visible to guests as it’s churned throughout the day, Osorio told Business Debut. He said customers who visit early may even have the chance to taste it immediately after it comes out of the machine.

Osorio said he was drawn to the concept after seeing the reaction it created for customers. “I want to make a positive impact,” he told Business Debut. “I want to be a part of that.”

Opening Timeline

The team is conservatively targeting June 1, though Osorio said the store could open sooner. He said he and his wife, Shannon, are opening the business as a family operation.

Hours

Final hours have not been announced. Osorio told Business Debut the shop is expected to operate seven days a week, likely around 11 a.m.—10 p.m.
