The Book Rescuers Moving to Larger Location with Added Amenities

Community-supported bookstore plans move to space with expanded offerings, including performance stage and craft beer lounge.

A new and larger location is in store for The Book Rescuers, co-owner George Brooks shared with Business Debut. The Book Rescuers, which began as a pop-up on George and Sarah Brooks' family driveway three and a half years ago, is now expanding to a space that will yield two and a half miles of shelving, a performance stage and much more.

Brooks revealed in an interview that the Pinellas County community is the main reason why The Book Rescuers is where it is today. He shared of its generous donations throughout the years, such as funds to purchase new pop-up tents, a Black Panther movie poster signed by the entire cast, a dumpster to clean out the upcoming location and numerous other acts of generosity.

The Book Rescuers is currently located at 10410 66th St N #6, Pinellas Park, FL 33782, but Brooks shared that they would like to be fully transitioned to the new location by November 1st. Find the new store at 8321 Ulmerton Rd Building #1 Largo, FL 33771.

The larger space will allow for a musical performance stage and a lounge area serving coffee, tea and 16 craft beers on tap. They will host what Brooks described as a Tiny Desk or SugarShack style concert and video series. He also reported that they have partnered with a local brewery, but he can't be specific as of now.

Aside from offering books as affordable as $1, The Books Rescuers also has incredible discounts for every occasion, such as a 50% discount for teachers, 10% discount for out-of-county shoppers, a free book for band members who are passing through while on tour, 10% off for anyone donating blood while the OneBlood bus is on premise and many more.

One other particularly exciting program will be stock gifts, Brooks said. While details are still being worked out, Brooks intends for customers to be given an amount of stock in the Book Rescuers that is proportional to their purchases and for employees to get certain amounts based on time worked for the company.

The Book Rescuers will also offer a $5/month subscription that will allow for members to have a $0 pick for books they request, 5% instant discount on all purchases, 10% rewards to be used as cash on future purchases and double the ownership award from purchases.
