TAMPA, FL — Sushi Alive is planning its second location at 9316 Anderson Road, Tampa, FL 33634, with co-owners Jennifer Ly and her husband Timmy Ly expanding the 20-plus-year-old brand into a space previously occupied by Boston Pizza. Jennifer Ly told Business Debut the modern Asian restaurant will bring its established concept to the area, with an opening targeted for late August.

What to Expect

The new location will follow the same concept as the existing restaurant, offering a modern Asian sushi experience designed to be accessible across price points, Ly told Business Debut. The full-service restaurant will include indoor and outdoor seating, with capacity for roughly 300 guests including patio space.

Guests can expect a family-friendly atmosphere with a large patio and open layout, aimed at accommodating a wide range of diners. Ly shared with Business Debut that the goal is to provide a space where guests can enjoy quality food and atmosphere without a premium price.

The menu will feature both sushi and a full kitchen offering, including teriyaki dishes, noodles, and other Asian-inspired items. Ly told Business Debut that more than half of the sushi options are cooked, allowing the menu to appeal to both sushi and non-sushi eaters.

Sushi Alive is also known for its popular happy hour offerings. The restaurant will offer a weekday happy hour from 5 p.m.–7 p.m. with discounted sushi, nigiri, sashimi, and drink specials, along with a late-night happy hour from 8 p.m. to close featuring half-off appetizers, Ly said.

Ly noted that the brand continues to evolve its menu with new appetizers and desserts while maintaining consistency across locations.

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting a late August opening, though timing may shift slightly as construction progresses, Ly told Business Debut.

Hours

Weekday hours are planned for 11 a.m.–2 p.m. for lunch and 5 p.m.–10 p.m. for dinner. On weekends, the restaurant will open at noon and remain open through close, with Sunday hours ending at 9 p.m. and Saturday around 10 p.m., Ly said.
