Here's what you need to know in Hillsborough County's restaurant scene.
Here's a look into what is coming soon to Tampa and the surrounding area. Business Debut interviewed each and every owner below, and we know of several more with additional plans!
Slap Burger — Tampa
Address: 14915 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Tampa, FL 33613
Status: Targeting June 21. The date has not been formally finalized.
What to expect: New York- and New Jersey-born smashburger franchise opening a full-service Tampa restaurant near the University of South Florida. The restaurant will seat about 40 guests and is positioned near student housing, making late-night dining a major part of the plan.
Menu highlights: Smashburgers with single, double or triple patties; Slap and Flame burger with jalapeños; Slap Melt with two patties and three cheeses; fries; in-house mac and cheese; hot dogs; loaded fries or mac-and-cheese platters; chicken tenders; Nashville-style chicken sandwiches; shakes; and flavored Slap Lemonades.
Hours: Final daily hours are still to be announced. The team plans to begin by staying open until about 2:30 a.m., with possible later hours until 3 a.m.
Who’s behind it: Franchisee Kamel Musallet.

ANF Gyros And Grill — Plant City
Address: 1713 James L Redman Pkwy, Plant City, FL 33563
Status: Targeting a mid-June opening, pending final inspections.
What to expect: A new Plant City location for ANF Gyros And Grill, which owner Frank Haouati said will be the brand’s ninth open Florida restaurant. The store will follow the same setup used at the brand’s other locations.
Menu highlights: Gyros and grilled items will anchor the menu. Grand opening discounts are planned, with specific offers to be announced closer to opening.
Hours: Not yet announced.
Who’s behind it: Owner Frank Haouati. The family-owned brand also has additional locations planned in Kissimmee and Sanford, both still in the construction phase.
Corner Haus — Tampa
Address: 7112 N. Florida Ave., Unit 7118, Tampa, FL 33604
Status: Targeting June 26, with July 1 as a backup opening date.
What to expect: Creative co-op space combining flowers, fitness classes, matcha, coffee, retail, photography and event rentals. The 1,800-square-foot space will bring several local businesses together under one roof.
Menu highlights: Flour My Day will operate the coffee and matcha cart, with drinks such as strawberry matcha, banana pudding matcha, cookie butter matcha, lattes, flat whites and Americanos. The space also plans occasional Sourdough Saturdays with market-style baked goods.
More to know: Wall Flower Events & Co. will run a flower shop with a live bouquet bar. Sage Coterie’s side will include a photography studio and classes such as mat Pilates, yoga, ballet, contemporary and jazz.
Hours: Planned Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m.–3 p.m.
Who’s behind it: Co-owners Gabbie Welvaert of Wall Flower Events & Co. and Gabbie Mondejar of Sage Coterie. Flour My Day is owned by Tatiana Maldonado.
Rose’s Coffee & Cones — Ybor City
Address: 2206 E. 7th Ave., Tampa, FL 33605
Status: Now Open!
What to expect: Coffee and ice cream shop opening in a small historic cottage-style building in Ybor City. The space is about 900 square feet and will seat roughly 15 to 18 guests inside.
Menu highlights: Paninis, specialty coffees, island drinks, Turkish ice cream and Italian gelato. Owner Birgul Lemmon said the shop will bring in Turkish ice cream from Miami and offer a broad range of flavors.
Atmosphere: Lemmon wants the shop to feel home-like, with room for guests to sit with coffee, read, work or take a break from Ybor’s nightlife. Outdoor seating with benches, bistro tables and lighting is also in the works.
Hours: Planned opening time is 7:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. Closing is planned for 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9 p.m. Sunday, while Thursday through Saturday hours are still being finalized with a possible midnight to 2 a.m. closing window.
Who’s behind it: Owner Birgul Lemmon. The shop is dedicated to her mother, Remzy, who had long dreamed of opening a place of her own.
