3 Coming Soon Cobb County Restaurants

Cobb County has three new food and beverage concepts in the works, including a growing bakery café, a Louisiana-inspired po’boy shop and a coffeehouse built around Southern hospitality. Here’s what to expect from each opening.

Kupcakerie — Smyrna

Address: 2517 Spring Road Suite 102, Smyrna, GA 30080

Status: Targeting an opening by the end of August.

What to expect: Kupcakerie will bring its bakery café format to Smyrna with cupcakes, specialty cakes, breakfast food and a full coffee program. The business also handles catering for events including weddings, birthdays and other celebrations.

Menu highlights: Cupcakes and custom cakes are at the center of the brand, while breakfast options include biscuits, breakfast sandwiches and croissants. The owners also plan to add breakfast burritos across all three Kupcakerie locations.

Who’s behind it: Henry and Kascha Adeleye launched Kupcakerie in 2014 while attending the University of Georgia, initially baking from their apartment and delivering around metro Atlanta. They opened their first storefront in East Point in 2016 and later expanded to Grant Park.

Honey's Po'boys and Gumbo — Marietta

Address: 2667 Powder Springs Rd SW Ste 102, Marietta, GA 30064

Status: Looking to open on October 1st.

What to expect: Honey’s Po’boys and Gumbo will be a mostly takeout-focused Louisiana restaurant with about 10 to 12 seats for dine-in customers. The concept grew out of more than two decades of catering experience and is named in honor of the owners’ late mother, whose nickname was Honey.

Menu highlights: Louisiana-style po’boys, gumbo and other regional dishes will lead the menu. New Orleans-style snowballs are also planned, made with a traditional ice shaver the owners purchased in New Orleans.

Hours: Proposed hours are 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The schedule could change based on customer demand.

Who’s behind it: Siblings Angela Randolph and Lionel Thomas are opening the restaurant after more than 20 years in catering and concessions. Their family is also helping with the buildout, including their 82-year-old uncle, Isaiah Thomas.

Bayou Brew Coffee Co — Powder Springs

Address: 2830 Macedonia Rd Suite C, Powder Springs, GA 30127

Status: Initially planning for August, updates pending.

What to expect: Bayou Brew Coffee Co will be a roughly 1,400-square-foot counter-service coffeehouse inspired by owner Jonie Paden’s Louisiana upbringing. The space is intended to have a warm, boutique atmosphere where customers can work, meet friends or simply spend time over coffee.

Menu highlights: Paden is working with a New Orleans roaster to source specialty coffee, with Louisiana-inspired drinks such as praline coffee on the menu. Fresh beignets, boudin balls, specialty hot chocolates and seasonal Louisiana-style snow cones are also planned.

Hours: The cafe plans to operate Monday through Saturday and close Sundays. Exact daily hours are still to be announced.

Who’s behind it: Jonie Paden is a corporate HR executive and mother of three who is developing Bayou Brew as both a community gathering place and a business her children can potentially become involved with in the future.
