JACKSONVILLE, FL — 1926 Coffee Co is preparing to open a new coffee shop inside The Barnett building at 112 W Adams St, Jacksonville, FL 32202 around the week of Thanksgiving, Vice President of Development Nathan Walter told Business Debut in a recent interview.

The cafe is part of a broader renovation and hospitality push by Becovic Companies, the family office that owns The Barnett and several nearby properties in downtown Jacksonville.

What to Expect

The shop will occupy a small section of the ground floor and is expected to seat about 20 to 25 guests. Walter said the space will feature deep green tones, gold accents, and complex architectural ceiling details.

Lighting, finishes, and flooring are designed to match the amenities floor on level three of The Barnett, which is undergoing a $4 million renovation with an antique, library-like feel.

1926 Coffee Co will feature a concise menu. Offerings will include specialty coffee drinks, teas, pastries, grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches, energy drinks, nutrition shots, and bottled waters.

Many specialty beverages will carry names tied to Jacksonville and its history, part of an effort to anchor the concept in downtown Jacksonville’s past.

Baristas will wear period-inspired attire, including flat caps and clothing that reflects the 1920's era.

Ownership Background

1926 Coffee Co is owned and developed under the Becovic Companies family office.

Walter said the family office built its core business in residential multifamily real estate over about 50 years, then added private aviation, development, and now hospitality.

He described 1926 Coffee Co as the company’s first owned-and-operated coffee shop. Hospitality manager Daisy Davenport is leading day-to-day development of the concept and go-to-market plan.

Davenport has worked in the Jacksonville hospitality industry for about 15 years and is well known locally, Walter said, adding that she has been spearheading operations planning for the cafe.

Opening Timeline

Walter said construction is in the finish phase, with ceilings, flooring, cabinetry, granite countertops, and equipment installations scheduled in the coming weeks.

The team is targeting the week of Thanksgiving for opening.

Hours

Walter told Business Debut the shop will operate Monday through Saturday.

Sunday service is under review, with one option being a Sunday morning window that would close around midday.
