Makai Kava Bar and Grille is preparing to open in Melbourne, offering a fusion of kava bar and restaurant, with a full menu crafted by private chef Scot Geske, known for his business La Cosa Ciba. The new spot will blend a fine fast-casual dining experience with an extensive menu of kava and kratom mocktails, spritzers, and elevated bar food—all without alcohol.

Located in historic downtown Melbourne at 411 E New Haven Ave, Melbourne, FL 32901, Makai Kava Bar and Grille will feature a large bar and a diverse, eclectic menu. Expect creative takes on classic cravings, including grilled watermelon salad, yuca, tacos, sliders, and gourmet hot dogs—one resembling a chopped cheese and another styled like a lobster roll.

Guests can expect seating for up to 79 patrons, 54 at the bar and 24 around dining tables.

While the long-term goal is to serve food from lunch until 4 a.m., the kitchen will initially operate until 2:30 a.m., catering to late-night crowds. Geske is bringing this concept to Melbourne alongside partners David Fleming and Angel Morales, with hopes to expand the brand further.

Makai Kava Bar and Grille is aiming to open before March. Follow them on Instagram for info about hiring and opening dates.
