LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Jittery Joe's has opened a new drive-thru coffee shop at 299 Grayson Hwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30046, marking the Athens-based roaster's first franchise location and first drive-thru concept, co-owner and CEO of franchising Drew French told Business Debut.

The shop began serving customers a few weeks ago. A grand opening celebration was held on October 24.

What to Expect

The Lawrenceville Jittery Joe's operates as a drive-thru with a walk-up window and outdoor patio seating. The team converted a former Sonic building to fit their concept.

The grand opening event featured the Pete the Cat mascot for photos, a live community mural painting, live music, and giveaways tied to the Pete the Cat collaboration.

French said the brand focuses on small-batch roasting and sources coffee from 18 countries. He credited master roaster Charlie Mustard as "a wizard at kind of blending coffees from different parts of the world and creating great flavor profiles that are unique to Jittery Joe's."

The new location serves classic drip coffee, Americanos and lattes alongside chai, matcha lattes and a growing lineup of specialty drinks. The store also offers energy drinks and dirty sodas, including a Dirty Bird drink that nods to the Falcons and is specific to this location.

Food offerings include biscuit sandwiches, bagel sandwiches and pizza snackers, along with traditional coffee shop items.

"Everybody wants energy," French told Business Debut.

Ownership Background

Jittery Joe's began more than 30 years ago as a 24-hour coffee shop on Washington Street in Athens next to the 40 Watt Club.

Jittery Joe's is a small-batch roaster that has collaborated with prominent and eclectic musicians, brands and institutions like Widespread Panic, Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell, Kishi Bashi, the University of Georgia, Pete the Cat, Fox Theatre, Java Joy, ASW Distillery and Terrapin Beer Co.

Community giving remains a core focus, French told Business Debut. Pre-opening "drive and donate" events in Lawrenceville offered free drinks while guests donated to selected organizations.

French said the location also serves a Lawrenceville Latte that donates 10% of sales to the Lawrenceville Arbor Foundation to support tree plantings in Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County. Similar giveback programs run in other markets, including a Fox Theatre collaboration.

The company is planning additional franchise locations across the Southeast over the next 12 months, including sites in and around Atlanta.

Hours

The Lawrenceville shop operates Sunday through Thursday from 5 a.m. — 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 a.m. — 10 p.m.
