ORLANDO, FL — Meltwich is preparing to open at 12098 Collegiate Way, Orlando, FL 32817, with franchisee Sathyasree “Sathya” Sreenivasan targeting a mid-to-late May debut. Sreenivasan told Business Debut the restaurant will be the first Meltwich in Orlando and the second in Florida.

What to Expect

Sreenivasan described Meltwich as a Canada-based quick-service restaurant built around grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, fries, poutines and other comfort-food items. The brand’s official menu also features Philly cheesesteaks, all-day breakfast items and sides built around fries, cheese curds and sandwiches, while the company says its concept centers on grilled melts, burgers and poutines.

At the Orlando restaurant, guests can expect grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, mac and cheese bites, onion rings, soups, smoothies, milkshakes and a kids menu, Sreenivasan told Business Debut. She said grilled cheese sandwiches are expected to be the signature draw, while Canadian-style poutine, sold as Hot Mess Fries, will be one of the more distinctive menu items for the local market.

The restaurant will span about 2,000 square feet with seating for roughly 20 to 50 guests, including booth and table seating, Sreenivasan shared with Business Debut.

For Sreenivasan, the opening is both a first restaurant venture and a local investment. She told Business Debut she chose Meltwich after researching franchise options and visiting multiple locations in Canada, where the brand has operated for years. She said the concept stood out because it offered food that is quick to serve, broad in appeal and suited to repeat visits from students, families and nearby workers.

She said the Orlando location is being developed with the UCF-area customer in mind, but the business plan reaches well beyond walk-in traffic. Sreenivasan told Business Debut that catering will be a major focus, with outreach planned across nearby offices, hospitals, residences and campuses.

She specifically pointed to the Orange County Convention Center as a key long-term catering target, saying large-format event business could become an important revenue stream for the restaurant. The convention center says it hosts more than 200 events annually and draws about 1.5 million attendees each year.

Sreenivasan also said she plans to support the community through local engagement, event participation and future partnerships with nonprofit and social-responsibility organizations as the business gets established. She told Business Debut she wants the restaurant to serve nearby hotels, hospitals, students and residents while building a visible presence in community-oriented events.

Opening Timeline

Sreenivasan told Business Debut the team is targeting a mid-to-late May opening, with a broader push expected by August as the fall student season begins.

Hours

The restaurant is expected to operate seven days a week from 11 a.m.—11 p.m., with later hours possible on select high-demand days, Sreenivasan told Business Debut.
