The Muse

A new wine and charcuterie bar, The Muse, is set to open in mid-July at 116 Perry Ave SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, co-owner Jonathan Peters told Business Debut.

The 1,500-square-foot space will feature seating for 80 guests, with just under 50 seats inside and between 30 - 40 outside. Three roll-up garage doors will open to create an indoor-outdoor atmosphere during cooler weather.

The Muse will operate Wednesday through Saturday from 4 - 11 pm, offering a selection of charcuterie, olives, cheeses and meats. The drink menu will include local Floridian and Alabamian draft beers, as well as 20 wines available by the glass or bottle.

Peters envisions The Muse as a relaxing spot where patrons can enjoy a glass of wine and charcuterie while listening to music from artists like Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé.

A soft opening is planned just before the grand opening in mid-July.

Beignets and Brew

Beignets and Brew is set to open several new locations, Vice-President and Co-owner Bailey Lauren told Business Debut. The chain specializes in New Orleans-style beignets and specialty coffees.

A Tallahassee location will open on Market St. this fall, featuring a coffee and mimosa bar converted from the previous tenant's bar. It will have at least 60 seats, including lounge and French café-style seating. The exact address is yet to be announced, but it will appear on the busy Market St.

Two locations are planned for Fort Walton Beach, with one at 161 Eglin Pkwy N, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548. Another will open in Santa Rosa Beach. All three are slated to open in Q4 of this year.

Lauren also revealed plans for expansion into Tennessee, Virginia, Texas, and potentially more locations in the Atlanta-area.

Electric Dough Pizza Co.

Chef Tom Gray's newest restaurant concept, Electric Dough Pizza Co., is planning to debut in the historic San Marco Theater in Jacksonville, according to a release from the company.

Electric Dough Pizza Co. will be 4,200-square-feet and specialize in rectangular artisan pizzas with Roman-style dough and Detroit-style crispy, cheesy edges, baked in an Italian-imported electric oven.

In addition to pizzas, the menu will include seasonally-inspired salads, gelato, and sorbets. The restaurant will also offer a full bar, craft sodas and a retail area selling take-and-bake items.

Electric Dough Pizza Co. is anticipated to open in Q4 2024, joining Chef Gray's other restaurants, Prati Italia and Town Hall, in the San Marco area. The project aims to maintain the building's historic façade while bringing a new dining experience to the iconic location.

Pedal Brews

A new mobile coffee and lemonade stand, Pedal Brews, is launching in Jacksonville, owner Ethan Drago told Business Debut.

The business operates from a trike equipped with four taps, offering a selection of cold brew coffees and lemonades. Pedal Brews plans to serve at events, special occasions and popular locations such as Friendship Fountain in Jacksonville.

Drago also shared that Pedal Brews will donate all tips received to local foundations. Customers can vote for their preferred charities through a link in the business's Instagram bio.

Three Six Bistro

Chef Langan is opening Three Six Bistro at 3751 SE 36th Ave Ocala, Florida, 34471 after coming out of retirement, he told Business Debut.

Formally a multi-unit restaurateur in Washington state Chef Langan moved to Florida for a double lung transplant. His downtime rekindled his desire to return to the restaurant industry.

Three Six Bistro will offer casual upscale dining Wednesday to Sunday from 4-9 pm. The restaurant will have 22 seats inside and 7 outside.

All dishes are made to order, never frozen. The restaurant will also showcase Washington wines from winemakers Chef Langan knows personally.

Edgewater Creamery

Edgewater Creamery, a new ice cream parlor, is set to open in late July at 1826 S Ridgewood Ave, Edgewater, FL 32141, owner Archana Patel told Business Debut.

The shop will seat approximately 15 people and offer scooped ice cream, milkshakes, ice cream cakes and bottled beverages.

Lupita's Café

Lupita's Café is set to open inside the courthouse in Daytona Beach at 251 N Ridgewood Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 in about two weeks, owner Julie Olague told Business Debut.

The 400-square-foot space will have two small tables and primarily serve courthouse employees and jurors. Operating hours will align with the courthouse, typically Monday to Friday from 8 am - 4 pm.

Lupita's menu will focus on hot beverages, including café con leche, alongside cold drinks. Food offerings will include breakfast sandwiches, daily specials, croquetas, Cuban sandwiches, deli sandwiches, empanadas, bagels, Tres Leches Cake and tiramisu.

Olague's family is known for Cuban cuisine in Volusia County, causing the courthouse to approach them about opening the café.

Niko's Grill House

A new Greek restaurant, Niko's Grill House, is set to open in early August at 614 Athens St, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689, co-owner Yvonne Fillis told Business Debut.

Fillis, who is Greek, previously owned a restaurant called Xsoulias just outside of Athens, Greece in the village of Xasia. With her experience, she is bringing authentic Greek dining to Tarpon Springs.

Niko's Grill House will offer both dine-in and takeout options, featuring handmade Greek cuisine. Fillis's son, a butcher, will prepare sausages and meats by hand. The menu will include traditional Greek specialties such as lamb on the spit, kebabs and much more. Additionally, Fillis said that they will offer daily specials to highlight dishes that aren't permanent menu fixtures.

The restaurant aims to provide the most authentic Greek food in Tarpon Springs, with all dishes made fresh using authentic recipes and techniques.

Once opened, Niko's Grill House will operate 7 days a week from 11 am - 9 pm. They will have space to seat 50 guests and will serve beer and wine, Fillis said.

The Canadian Eh Food Truck

A new food truck, The Canadian Eh, is planning to open September 6 at 1620 Gulf to Bay Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33755, in the parking lot of Advanced Auto Parts.

Owners Michael, Christina and Jordan Powers, a Canadian family immigrating to Florida to run the business, told Business Debut they will serve dishes from both Canada and the United States. The menu will feature 10 variations of poutine and peameal bacon, alongside American classics such as burgers, hot dogs, chili dogs and fries.

As native Canadians, the Powers aim to bring authentic northern flavors to the Clearwater area. The Powers regularly visit Florida and are excited to bring their business to the area. Expect the truck to operate from 11am - 9pm seven days a week. They will also hire at least one employee from the Clearwater community.

Hikari Food Hall & Champion Pizza

Restaurateur and philanthropist Hakki Akdeniz is bringing two new dining concepts to the Tampa area, he told Business Debut in an interview.

Hikari, a new food hall, is set to open in early December at 4205 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33603. The 5,200-square-foot space will feature nine food vendors offering unique Asian fusion cuisines. The business will have at least 100 seats between indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Akdeniz plans to partner with chefs and entrepreneurs by offering a more affordable opportunity to launch and maintain food businesses. Expect a bar serving primarily Korean and other Asian alcoholic beverages. Akdeniz reported that Hikari is under construction currently and is aiming to debut in early December.

Additionally, Akdeniz's Champion Pizza chain is expanding with a new location near UCF at 11802 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Tampa, FL 33612, set to open as early as the end of August.

Aji Ceviche

Aji Ceviche, the Peruvian-inspired restaurant chain that began as a food truck in 2015, is set to open its newest location in Sarasota this August, co-owner Ali Garcia Aleman told Business Debut in an interview.

The new restaurant will be located at 4141 S Tamiami Trail suite 16, Sarasota, FL 34231, taking over the space that hosted Darwin Evolutionary Cuisine. This 3,400-square-foot space will offer a bar and full-service dining with 150 seats.

Aji Ceviche, founded by Chef Freddy Zubieta, has grown from its food truck origins to include two locations in Orlando and one in Tampa. Chef Zubieta, along with Chef Andersson Erazo Martinez, will oversee the kitchen at the Sarasota location.

The restaurant plans to operate seven days a week, from 12 - 9 pm on weekdays and until 10 pm on weekends. Diners can expect a blend of modern and traditional Peruvian cuisine, including seafood and steak dishes, complemented by the full bar.

Pirate Seafood and Chicken

A new location of the Pirate Seafood and Chicken brand is opening at: 3523 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33916. Owner Khaled Ayaad told Business Debut that he plans to open in September.

Pokemoto

Pokemoto, a growing Hawaiian-themed poke bowl chain, is opening in Fort Lauderdale, franchisee Shai Ivgi told Business Debut.

The new Pokemoto will be appear at 2705 Commercial Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308. Currently in the construction and permitting phase, Ivgi plans to open the restaurant in mid-September.

The Fort Lauderdale location will offer takeout and delivery, with seating for 17 guests inside. This opening follows the recent debut of a Pokemoto in Celebration.

Ivgi chose to franchise with Pokemoto after considering several brands. He cited the brand's proprietary house-made sauces, Hawaiian theme and customizability of their poke bowls and boba drinks as reasons for choosing Pokemoto. Based on the success of this location, Ivgi reported that he would like to expand into North Miami and West Palm Beach.

The Empanada's

The Empanada's, a Miami-based brand, is set for significant expansion with three new locations opening in South Florida this year, co-owner Maximiliano Fava told Business Debut.

The first new location will open around August 5 in Doral at 5645 NW 87 Avenue Suite 111, FL, 33178. This takeout-only spot will not offer indoor seating.

The second location is slated to open on August 15 in Weston at 16648 Saddle Club Rd, Weston, FL 33326.

The final South Florida location for this year will be in Fort Lauderdale at 1139 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304. An opening date is set for the end of the year.

Fava revealed that the brand plans to expand into the Orlando market with at least one location next year. Once all of these plans are complete, there will be at least 7 locations of The Empanada's throughout the state.

Buccan Coral Gables

Buccan, known for its Palm Beach location, is set to open a second venue at 100 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, FL 33134 in Q2 of 2025, owner Samuel Slattery told Business Debut. The 9,600-square-foot space will operate similarly to the location in West Palm Beach, housing three distinct dining concepts.

Buccan Sandwich Shop, an elevated daytime sandwich spot for walk-up orders, will open on Miracle Mile. Slattery shared that they bake their bread fresh each day for their gourmet sandwiches. Imoto, a full-service Japanese restaurant operating in the evenings, will have an entrance on Galiano Street. Buccan, the main full-service concept, will open in the evenings as well with an entrance on Miracle Mile.

The new location will offer a total of 250 seats across its three concepts. This expansion marks Buccan's first venture outside of West Palm Beach, bringing its multi-faceted dining experience to Coral Gables.

Frankie and Wally's Gourmet Market and Deli

A new gourmet market and deli, Frankie and Wally's, is set to open this fall in Coral Gables, co-owner Wally Henriquez told Business Debut.

The establishment will be located at 216 Palermo Ave #2602, Coral Gables, FL 33134, according to public filings.

Frankie and Wally's will offer a unique combination of specialty groceries from Spain, Italy and local Miami brands, alongside a New York-style deli and café serving breakfast and lunch. The menu will include sandwiches, pastries, coffees, rotisserie chicken lunch dishes and whole chickens for takeaway.

The market and deli will operate Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am - 6 pm. They will have a unique outdoor space with 30 seats covered by a trellis. They will also have 10 additional seats inside.

The concept evolved from its beginnings during the COVID-19 pandemic when Henriquez and her husband Frankie Pichardo started making and delivering lasagnas to customers. Pichardo, who had moved from New York during the pandemic, missed New York deli sandwiches, which led to the launch of a food truck.

Now, having retired their food truck, Henriquez and Pichardo are expanding their vision into a brick-and-mortar location that combines a gourmet market with their popular deli offerings.
