ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Mrs. Thelma's Southern Cuisine, a new restaurant from owners Melvin Holt and Cornicole Rollins-Holt, is preparing to open at 119 49th St South, St. Petersburg, FL 33707, Holt told Business Debut in a phone interview.

The concept honors Holt's late mother, who inspired the restaurant's name and menu.

Expect a Southern menu focused on baked and fried comfort dishes. Planned items include baked turkey wings, baked macaroni and cheese, baked chicken, fried chicken and meatloaf, Holt told Business Debut.

Sides and additions will include collard greens and black-eyed peas. For dessert, watch out for red velvet cake, banana pudding and mini sweet potato pies.

Additionally, the brand will sell signature drinks like pineapple lemonade and an island fruit punch.

Mrs. Thelma's Southern Cuisine will offer dine-in and takeout.

The restaurant is the couple's first full restaurant, though Holt previously ran a cleaning service and a barbecue stand in Orlando.
