Orlando Restaurant News: Viet-Nomz Opening 4th Location [Owner Interview]

WINTER PARK, FL — Viet-Nomz plans to open its fourth location in early August at 1330 N Orange Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789, co-founder Philip Nguyen told Business Debut in a recent phone interview.

Nguyen said the team is finishing construction and waiting on equipment and licenses.

What to Expect

Nguyen shared with Business Debut that Viet-Nomz began in 2016, when he and partners Christopher Chen and Mike Cho saw an opening for Vietnamese food in East Orlando.

He said the team focused on making the menu easier to navigate for guests who may not know traditional Vietnamese dish names. “Not everybody understands what pho is, so we found the English equivalent of words and were able to describe food differently," Nguyen told Business Debut. "But then we stick true to how the food is made still.”

Nguyen said Viet-Nomz still simmers its broth for almost 24 hours and marinates with traditional fish sauce while offering items such as Vietnamese-inspired tacos, which he called one of the company’s best sellers.

He added that the larger kitchen and prep area in Winter Park will support catering, events and research and development for new menu items.

Nguyen told Business Debut that Viet-Nomz grows around long-standing staff members and develops leaders from within.

He said some employees have been with the company eight of its 10 years and that the Winter Park store will feature Viet-Nomz’s first manager becoming a partner. The model is a way to give growth opportunities to team members who have built their careers with the brand.

The new Viet-Nomz will take over the former Yummii 2 Go space on North Orange Avenue.

Nguyen said the overall footprint is larger than previous locations, although the dining area will feel familiar to existing guests. “We want to keep that community feel,” Nguyen said.
