New in Wellington: La Coppetta Matta Coming Soon

WELLINGTON, FL — Sisters Laura and Patricia Generoso plan to open La Coppetta Matta, an Italian gelato shop at 10660 Forest Hill Blvd, Suite 150, Wellington, FL 33414, targeting an opening by the end of August, Laura Generoso told Business Debut in a phone interview.

The sisters now live in Wellington, but worked in their family’s New York cafe business since childhood. Their family operates three Italian-style cafes in New York City, including locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan, with roots going back to a shop their father opened in the 1970s.

Menu and Vision

Generoso said La Coppetta Matta will serve Italian ices, gelato, milkshakes made with gelato, gelato pops and granita style frozen drinks. All products will use ingredients from Italy, she said.

The shop plans more than 24 gelato flavors, with core Italian options and rotating weekly varieties. She said they also plan flavors geared toward children, such as cotton candy and bubble gum.

The drink menu will include affogato and a cappuccino granita topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. “We’re sticking just to the cold beverages and cold items,” Generoso told Business Debut.

Generoso said the sisters hope to franchise the concept in time, with potential future locations farther south in Florida.

Opening Timeline

The buildout in Wellington has been underway for about 10 months, Generoso shared with Business Debut. She said the project has moved through an extended permitting and inspection process.

Generoso said they have one inspection left and are targeting an opening by the end of August. An exact opening date is to be announced.

Hours

Generoso said the current plan is to open from about 12 p.m. — 10 p.m. on weekdays. Weekend hours are to be announced and will be adjusted based on demand, she told Business Debut.
