Le Dor Cafe, What Da Flock, Waffles Dream and More News
Another week of busy restaurant news in Florida.
Welcome back to this week's round up. A lot of new cafes are coming to the state, from Palm Beach to St. Pete. Check out the details below.
BROWARD COUNTY
La Brise de Antilles
A new Caribbean restaurant is coming to Lauderhill in the next few weeks, co-owner Yves Gousse told FFBW. La Brise de Antilles is coming to the area via Gousse and her business partner Magali Piverger.
La Brise de Antilles will serve Caribbean cuisine, Gousse told FFBW. The menu will offer dishes from the entirety of the region, encompassing all of the major highlights from different islands.
The restaurant will be intimate, featuring only 20 or so seats. Guests will have the option to dine in or take out, and Gousse plans to offer online delivery and ordering. Eventually, La Brise de Antilles will offer beer and wine as well, but not from the start.
Waiting on approval from the city, La Brise de Antilles will open in a matter of a few weeks. Ideally, they're shooting for mid-April, but this could be delayed into may.

Fix-A-Flatz
A new food truck is opening soon in the Pembroke Pines area, owner Nyris Burac told FFBW.
Fiz-A-Flatz will serve a dish that consists of fried dough with sweet or savory toppings. For instance, Burac will serve the Mufasa - named in honor of Burac's late friend who went by the same name. The Mufasa will have shrimp, seared steak and veggies, lettuce, tomato, cheese and homemade cajun sauce atop the fried dough.
Some of the dishes will include Philly cheesesteak toppings and more. Expect the truck to open in a couple of weeks.

PALM BEACH COUNTY
Le Dor Cafe
A new cafe is coming to the Lantana area soon, owner Linda Volcy told FFBW. Le Dor Cafe will be a healthy breakfast and lunch cafe.
Volcy shared that the new business is still under development, and she is waiting for her health inspection before opening. Because of this, she doesn't have an opening timeline yet.
Once open, she will likely maintain hours from 7 am - 4 pm seven days a week. This, however, may change as Volcy figures out what works best for the area.
Expect a menu of salads, sandwiches, quinoa, croissants, potatoes, salmon, teas, healthy green smoothies and juices. Check the brand's website for more updates.

The Tasting Room
A West Palm Beach wine tasting room is preparing to move to a new space and expand the scope of its business, owner Jonathan Negrin told FFBW. The Tasting Room has created a loyal following of customers through its private wine tasting and educational events.
The Tasting Room is planning to open in a 1,500 square foot space at: 1534 Elizabeth Ave #2710, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. The new location will allow Negrin to open his concept up to a blend of reservation only events and walk in traffic.
Antojada Chocolate + Desserts
A new cafe is coming to the Lake Worth area, manager Anthony Salazar told FFBW.
Antojada Chocolate + Desserts will offer a range of coffees and desserts with an in-house Le Cordon Bleu-trained chocolatier. Expect delicious frappes, espressos, cakes, shakes and much more. The concept is in the works at: 4075 S State Rd 7, Wellington, FL 33449.

BREVARD COUNTY
Tito's Place Food Truck
A new food truck is coming to the Melbourne area, owner Jesus Ferrer told FFBW. Tito's Place will serve Cuban food and snacks. They plan to operate 6-7 days a week, attend events on the weekends and holding down regular spots during the week.
They will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. They plan to open as soon as they get their permits and inspections completed.
ORANGE COUNTY
Just Like Momma's Soul Food and Wings
A food trailer that's been operating in the Orlando area for three years is preparing to go brick and mortar this summer, owner Valerie Sparkman told FFBW.
Just Like Momma's Soul Food and Wings has been open on the weekends as Sparkman teaches during the week; however, she shared that she's retiring to take on opening the new restaurant.
Smile Ice Cream Company
What started as a catering and delivery only ice cream brand is becoming a brick and mortar ice cream parlor. Owner Glen Providence told FFBW that Smile Ice Cream Company is preparing to open its first physical location in Orlando soon.
The company was founded in 2018, and after weathering the pandemic and growing a strong following, they are planning to open at: 4353 Edgewater Dr, Orlando, FL 32804.
Providence is planning to debut in early May. The space is 1,000 square feet, and they will serve their homemade, artificial ingredient free ice cream, coffees and other desserts.
They'll operate Monday - Saturday from 12-8 on the weekdays and 12-9 on the weekends.

Maya Thai Cuisine
A new halal Thai restaurant is in the works for Doctor Phillips soon, owner Mahmudul Alam told FFBW. Maya Thai Cuisine is Alam's first restaurant, and he reported that it is the first halal Thai restaurant in Orlando.
The restaurant will open at: 11020 Daryl Carter Pkwy, Golden Oak, FL 32836. Alam is planning to debut on between April 15-20. The restaurant will be full service, and they will be open for lunch and dinner each day.
They will have around 30 seats in the dining room.

VOLUSIA COUNTY
What Da Flock
A new food truck from chef Dakota Landon is coming to New Smyrna Beach soon. What Da Flock, Landon shared with FFBW, will specialize in offering chicken wings and a dish called the Cluckin' Cone. Landon is a several-time winner of the Flagler Food Challenge.
The wings, Landon said, can be chargrilled or double fried. In total, What Da Flock has 30 sauces, from dry rubs to wet sauces, to pick from. For the vegetarians, Landon will offer cauliflower wings too.
The Cluckin' Cone will be a handmade waffle cone, stuffed with beer cheese mac and cheese and boneless wings.
The truck will have its inspections in the next couple of days, and Landon plans to open as early as next week. Landon said that he will be going to events in the New Smyrna Beach area once opened.

1 Hot Cookie and Ice Cream
A new cookie and ice cream shop is opening is Osprey soon, owner Eric Turner told FFBW. Turner, who spent his career as a bartender, shared that he decided to open 1 Hot Cookie and Ice Cream because he was ready to get back into serving the public.
1 Hot Cookie and Ice Cream will specialize in serving freshly made cookies and Hersey's ice cream, Turner said. The shop is in the planning stages of development, and Turner is hoping to open the doors by June.

PINELLAS COUNTY
Crisp Waffle Company
A new location of the Sarasota-founded Crisp Waffle Company is opening in St. Petersburg soon, owner Todi Garay told FFBW. This is the brand's second brick and mortar unit.
Garay reporting being in the build out phase with a hope of opening at the end of April or early May. The new unit will be at: 2414 Central Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33712. This will be a larger space than their original in Sarasota, Garay said. Expect indoor and outdoor seating totally to around 25-30 seats.
Waffles Dream
A new dessert shop and bakery is opening in Clearwater soon, according to co-owner Kenya Acosta.
The Waffles Dream brand will bring waffles, smoothies, espresso, fruit bowls and more to Clearwater, a representative of the brand confirmed. The cafe will only have a few seats and will be primarily offering grab and go drinks and treats.
Waffles Dream is planned to open at: 1438 Gulf to Bay Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33755. Their goal is to open in two weeks.
PASCO COUNTY
Lao Tokyo Street Food
A new food truck is preparing to open in New Port Richey, owner Pam Vilaihong told FFBW. Currently, they are one inspection away from commencing business.
Lao Tokyo Street Food will serve a large variety of Japanese and other Asian dishes from around the region. The menu, Vilaihong said, will constantly rotate and change.
Expect to find them fully operational in the next 2 weeks.

Jackson's Turkey & More
What was a food pop up is moving into a food truck soon, owner Adrian Miller told FFBW.
Jackson's Turkey & More rose from Adrain Miller learning how to make good BBQ and turkey from his father. His love for cooking grew into a food stand that Miller popped up at markets and events. As the business has grown, Miller had the opportunity to open a truck, and he took it.
The truck will specialize in serving smoked BBQ, like turkey legs, rib tips, wings, brisket and much more. Expect sides like collard greens, mac and cheese, beans and more.

CLAY COUNTY
Helenes Taste of West Africa
A new food truck serving West African cuisine is coming to the Ashbury Lake area, owner Leo Ngoune told FFBW.
The truck, which is Ngoune's first, is planning to open as soon as April 9th. Once opened, the truck will travel to events around the area and to popular places to service their food.
The social media for Helenes Taste of West Africa is under development and will be available soon.
