La Cantina Off Main Opening in Ball Ground
Authentic northeastern Mexican cuisine highlights menu with tacos, aguachile, and wood-fired dishes.
BALL GROUND, GA — La Cantina Off Main is targeting a June opening at 420 Old Canton Rd, Ball Ground, GA 30107. Guillermo Pomares, along with partners Freddy Benitez and Ramon Benitez, told Business Debut the restaurant will be a full-service concept with seating for about 75 to 80 guests inside, plus additional patio seating.
Pomares told Business Debut the patio and deck area could add roughly 20 to 30 more seats once construction is finalized.
This will be a second location for La Cantina on Main, the team's highly reviewed concept currently open in Canton, GA.
Menu and Vision
La Cantina Off Main will serve the same menu as the group’s Canton location, with the possibility of a smaller outdoor-focused menu on weekends, Pomares told Business Debut. The restaurant will operate as a full-service concept centered on authentic food from northeastern Mexico.
“All my food is 100% northeastern Mexican authentic food,” Pomares told Business Debut. “This is the stuff I grew up eating.”
Guests can expect dishes such as aguachile de ribeye, tacos including cachetadas and campechanas, and other meat-focused offerings tied to that region’s cooking traditions. Pomares told Business Debut the restaurant will also feature wood-fired items, which he said is a defining element of northern Mexican cuisine.

“You’re not gonna find any crunchy tacos here or burritos like that kind of Chipotle burrito,” Pomares told Business Debut.
He told Business Debut the team focuses on sourcing specific cheeses, peppers, spices and produce to achieve those regional flavors.
Opening Timeline
The team is targeting a June opening, Pomares told Business Debut, with construction ongoing for portions of the outdoor space.
Hours
La Cantina Off Main is expected to open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Pomares told Business Debut that closing hours are still to be announced as the team evaluates local demand.
