PLANTATION, FL — Gualt’s The Italian Cafe is preparing to open a new location at 1000 South Pine Island Road, Ste 160, Plantation, FL 33324, targeting an opening in late April or early May, co-owners Genie Gualtieri and her husband Danilo Gualtieri told Business Debut.

The cafe will mark the brand’s fifth location as it expands beyond its established Miami footprint.

What to Expect

The concept centers on Italian and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with a focus on fresh, everyday options for office workers. Guests can expect a fast casual format with grab-and-go offerings alongside made-to-order items, Gualtieri told Business Debut.

The cafe will offer indoor seating for about 20 guests, with additional outdoor seating available within the office park. The space will also feature a standing coffee bar area inspired by traditional Italian cafes, she said.

The menu will span coffee, breakfast, and lunch, including espresso drinks, flavored lattes, matcha, and pastries. Breakfast options include frittatas, croissants, and sandwiches, while lunch will feature salads, sandwiches, bowls, daily pasta, and soups, Gualtieri told Business Debut.

Desserts such as tiramisu, panna cotta, and cakes will also be available. The team aims to deliver “good genuine healthy food to everyday workers,” with an emphasis on quality and competitive pricing, she said.

The concept is rooted in family experience, with co-owner Danilo Gualtieri bringing a background from growing up in a restaurant family in San Marino. “He’s been around this his whole entire life,” Gualtieri told Business Debut, noting his focus on authentic Italian coffee and food.

Background

Gualt’s first opened in April 2012 in Miami and has since expanded to multiple locations across the Brickell and downtown areas. The brand has evolved through openings, relocations, and a previous restaurant in Key Biscayne, building what is now a five-unit cafe concept, Gualtieri shared with Business Debut.

The Plantation location represents a move into a less saturated market while maintaining the brand’s core focus on office-driven dining.

Team member Nina Moyana is expected to support operations at the new cafe as a shift leader, helping oversee day-to-day service, Gualtieri told Business Debut.

Opening Timeline

The team is targeting a late April or early May opening, though an exact date has not been finalized due to ongoing construction and inspections, Gualtieri said.

Hours

Planned hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
