Eggs and Burgers Diner Replacing Crager's Restaurant

SARASOTA, FL – Eggs and Burgers Diner is preparing to open at the former Crager's Restaurant location at 7218 N Tamiami Trl, Sarasota, FL 34243, owner Ibrahim Tunga told Business Debut in a phone interview. Tunga is targeting a November 2 opening, pending final preparations.

The new diner replaces Crager's Restaurant, which had operated at the site since 1976 and closed this year.

What to Expect

Eggs And Burgers Diner will operate as a classic, family-friendly diner, Tunga told Business Debut. The concept centers on large portions at affordable prices with fresh ingredients.

Menu and Vision

The menu will feature traditional diner fare with an emphasis on breakfast plates and burgers. Breakfast items will be served all day from opening until close, he told Business Debut. 

Tunga said the burger lineup will focus on smash burgers. He chose the name Eggs and Burgers Diner so guests understand the core offerings as soon as they see the sign.

Ownership Background

Eggs and Burgers Diner will be Tunga's third restaurant. He operated a similar concept in St. Louis, Missouri, about 10 years ago.

He said he intends to keep a very similar style of diner service that regulars associate with the longtime Crager's space.

Opening Timeline

Tunga is targeting November 2 for opening if everything stays on schedule.

Hours

Eggs and Burgers Diner plans to open seven days a week. Initial hours are planned for 7 a.m. — 2:30 p.m. Breakfast will be available during all operating hours.

Tunga said future dinner hours are under consideration, depending on customer demand.
