Wings Etc. will open in Venice as a full-service sports bar offering wings, burgers, and family-friendly gathering space.

VENICE, FL — Wings Etc. is preparing to open January 5 at 415 U.S. 41 Bypass N, Venice, FL 34285, owner Tim McGivern told Business Debut.

The new restaurant will introduce the first Wings Etc. location to the state of Florida.

What to Expect

The Venice restaurant will open as a full-service neighborhood sports bar with seating for about 90 guests inside and another 35 outside. The layout is designed with game-watching in mind, featuring televisions throughout the space and a relaxed setting for families, friends, and local teams to gather.

McGivern said the goal is to offer a comfortable spot where people can enjoy familiar, easygoing food. “We want to make sure everyone is welcome to watch a game with their friends and family,” he told Business Debut.

The menu will include wings, appetizers, wraps, salads, sandwiches, and burgers, reflecting the brand’s focus on approachable dishes suited for both quick meals and longer visits.

Franchise and Family

McGivern was introduced to the Wings Etc. brand by close friend Joe Hobbs, who operates several locations in Missouri. Hobbs encouraged him to consider the franchise and connected him with corporate leadership, a step McGivern said helped confirm that the concept would be a good fit for Venice.

Family support has been central to the project. McGivern’s wife, Nancy McGivern, has played a key role in the buildout and planning. Their children Megan, Brittany, and Tyler have assisted throughout the process as well. McGivern told Business Debut that keeping the operation family-run is important to him as they launch the new restaurant.

Background and Community Roots

The McGiverns have operated two Obie’s Soup, Salad and Subs locations in Venice for 25 years. He said the long-standing support from the community made the decision to open Wings Etc. locally an easy one. “I love the city of Venice. They’ve been fantastic to me for the past 25 years,” he told Business Debut.

He hopes the new location will offer another dependable gathering place for the families, and regular customers he has served for decades.

Opening Timeline

Wings Etc. is targeting a January 5 opening, following construction and permitting delays.

Hours

Planned hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m.–11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.–1 a.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. The restaurant expects to remain open through the end of major sporting events.
