Villa Rica Restaurant News: Collins Fish and Chicken Opening Soon

VILLA RICA, GA – Collins Fish and Chicken is targeting an opening in late October at 219 W Wilson St, Villa Rica, GA 30180, owner Joe Collins told Business Debut in a phone interview. Collins and his family also operate Collins Family Food and BBQ next door.

What to Expect

The menu will focus on fish, chicked, country fried chicken, catfish and other fish options, offered grilled or fried.

Collins shared that a new chef, Deluka McCain Sr., is moving down from Memphis, TN to join the team. Chef McCain is working on a "UFO Burger" for the menu and will be a burger in the shape of a UFO.

The approach for the new restaurant is to “keep it simple” and offer affordable food and a fun environment.

The restaurant will have a small indoor dining room with additional outdoor seating and patio games. Guests will have options for dine-in, patio seating, or takeout. He said the goal is to create a place where people can “come hang out at and work at and enjoy family.”

The space will include a bar serving beer and wine.

Ownership Background

Collins and his family run Collins Family Food and BBQ next door.

He said the barbecue restaurant has continued to grow since opening the past couple of years and still brings in many first-time customers.

His goal for both restaurants is to continue to create more jobs in the city.

Opening Timeline

As of late September, Collins estimated the restaurant was “about 30 days out right now, maybe sooner” from opening. He said buildout work began around May and is nearing completion.
