The Kitty Cup: Port St. Lucie's Own Cat Cafe
Melony Zaravelis successfully had the city of Port St. Lucie adopt a code for cat cafes.
A cat adoption cafe is opening in Port St. Lucie next month, owner Melony Zaravelis told FFBW. The Kitty Cup Cat Cafe, Zaravelis reported, is proudly partnered with the Humane Society of Treasure Coast and the Humane Society of Port St. Lucie.
The cafe is under construction at: 1461 SW Gatlin Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34953. Zaravelis reported that they will likely open in mid-May if all continues smoothly.
The business will have two distinct purposes: connecting cat lovers with foster cats looking for a permanent home; and they will offer a delicious food and beverage program to the cat lovers in the area.
The Kitty Cup will have a 600 square foot Cat Room in which they will host up to 20 cats available for adoption. Zaravelis recommends reserving a time to enter the room, but walk-up visitors are welcomed if slots are available. Admission to the room will be $15.
The cafe will offer speciality coffee drinks, pour over coffee, Tractor Farm tea and lemonade, beer and wine by the glass. The food menu will feature sandwiches, charcuterie, pastries, pasta salads, vegetarian and gluten free options. Unique menu specials will also be announced weekly on social media.
The Kitty Cup will be open six days a week, from 8:30am - 6pm Tuesday - Saturday and 1:30am-6pm on Sundays. They'll be closed Monday. Additionally, they will host after-hours events like: movie nights, yoga with the cats, paint and sip, trivia, and more. These events will be posted on the brand's social media.
The car cafe business model is gaining popularity. FFBW recently reported on Nine Lives Cat Cafe, which is planning to open in West Palm Beach soon. Zaravelis reported that because of her work on The Kitty Cup, the city of Port St. Lucie has a new code for cat cafes, paving the way for future entrepreneurs.
Keep an eye out for The Kitty Cup next month.
