BROOKSVILLE, FL — The Artist’s Realm, a new art, music and photography lesson space from owner Kaitlyn Merryman, is targeting a summer 2026 opening at 9 N Georgia Ave, Brooksville, FL 34601.

Merryman told Business Debut she is hoping to open before fall, with a best-case goal of opening sooner if inspections and city requirements are completed.

What to Expect

The Artist’s Realm will offer art, music and photography lessons for all ages, Merryman told Business Debut. The space will open in phases, beginning with traditional art classes taught by Merryman, including painting, drawing and sculpture.

Merryman said the business is also approved, or in the process of being approved, for Step Up For Students-related funding, which could allow eligible families to use scholarships for children’s art and music lessons.

“It’s really just something that I wanted to make for my community,” Merryman told Business Debut. “Everyone in the community has always talked about how they want something fun to do and their kids need something fun to do.”

Vision

The concept is centered on creative education and community programming. Merryman, who has more than eight years of full-time experience as an artist and more than five years of teaching experience, told Business Debut she plans to teach the initial traditional art classes herself.

The front room will serve as the main traditional art classroom with supplies for painting, drawing and other hands-on projects.

A hallway in the building will function as a gallery-style space for works in progress, with shelving where students can leave unfinished pieces between weekly classes.

“I feel like in the world today, we’re definitely in a time where creativity and stopping and having fun is very necessary and beneficial to the community here in Brooksville,” Merryman told Business Debut.

Space and Classes

Future phases will add photography, digital art and music lessons. Merryman said she plans to offer digital art instruction using tools such as Adobe Suite, Procreate and Nomad Sculpt, with iPads, MacBooks and a photography studio available in the space.

The photography studio is expected to include professional lighting and interchangeable backdrops. Merryman also plans to make the studio available for rentals by local photographers.

Music lessons are expected to begin with guitar, piano and drums, with additional instruments possible based on community demand.

Opening Timeline

The Artist’s Realm is targeting a summer 2026 opening. Merryman told Business Debut she is working through inspections and plans to open the business in phases.

Hours

Planned hours are Wednesday through Sunday, with weekday classes primarily from about 3 p.m. - 8 or 9 p.m. Merryman said she also plans to offer select daytime classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays for homeschool students, with weekend hours likely beginning around 11 a.m.
