ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Morning Pour, a new community-driven coffee shop from Shawntavia Turner, will open November 1 at 1701 18th Ave S, Ste 2, St. Petersburg, FL 33712. Turner told Business Debut the grand opening will take place from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. with a ribbon cutting, live DJ, and full menu service.

What to Expect

Morning Pour will offer a full coffee and beverage program featuring espressos, macchiatos, frozen cappuccinos, teas, spritzers, and refreshers. Guests can also enjoy baked goods such as muffins, cinnamon rolls, and croissants. The café will include free Wi-Fi and on-site printing services to create a convenient spot for community members to meet clients, work remotely, or simply start their day.

The 500-square-foot shop will seat 10 to 12 guests indoors, with additional patio seating for two. Service will be counter-style, supported by an ordering kiosk and staff assistance for guests who prefer traditional checkout.

A signature menu item, “Greg’s Toast,” honors Turner’s childhood memories. “Growing up, my oldest brother Greg took home economics and would make us this breakfast toast,” Turner told Business Debut. “It’s nostalgic, simple, and something everyone could love, so I wanted to feature it as our house favorite.”

The shop’s concept centers on accessibility and togetherness. “Within about a two-mile radius there isn’t really a coffee brand people can easily get to,” Turner said. “We want to offer quality, affordable drinks and a welcoming space that brings community back to this corner.”

Ownership and Space

Turner, a real estate broker and educator, purchased the two-unit building in September 2024. The property has long been a neighborhood landmark—once home to Mr. Bailey’s, a corner store known for its ice cream and family gatherings. “My dad remembers walking up here as a child to get ice cream at the counter,” Turner said. “The building had been unused for years, and I wanted to bring it back to life and keep it in the Black community.”

Morning Pour is operated by Turner and her son, Makayo Mackey Jr., who serves as lead barista.
