Modern Italian Restaurant Coming to Sarasota
Sorella is coming with hand-stretched mozzarella, homemade pasta and a regular happy hour.

Sorella, a concept spearheaded by twin sisters Danielle Pitruzzella and Dana Malcolm, is coming soon to Sarasota. The sisters shared that they are partnered with Danielle’s wife, Salvatrice Pitruzzella, an Italian restaurateur with 30 years of restaurant ownership experience.
The eatery is planning to debut at 1532 Main St, Sarasota, FL 34236, where they will have approximately 2,500 square feet and 120 seats. Additionally, they will serve guests on a parkette outside—a small deck covering two parking spaces in front of the restaurant—offering European-style sidewalk seating.
They shared that the menu will feature a pizza oven from Naples for Neapolitan pizzas, homemade pastas, hand-stretched mozzarella, and more. While rooted in traditional Italian cooking, the menu will have a modern and trendy twist. With Salvatrice’s Italian heritage, several dishes will be based on her family recipes and adapted to fit the concept.
Sorella will also feature a full bar and a regular happy hour called “The Golden Hour.”

Expect décor influenced by Tulum and bohemian aesthetics, with plans to commission a local artist for a large interior mural.
Once open, they will offer dinner service six days a week. They haven’t decided yet whether to close on Monday or Tuesday. A Sunday brunch and lunch service are planned for the future but won’t be available initially.
Dana and Danielle shared that this is their first restaurant. They were both teachers in New Jersey for 15 years before relocating to Sarasota, where their mother lives. Throughout their careers as educators, they dreamed of opening a restaurant together. Now, they’re opening Sorella—which translates from Italian to “sister.”
The team is hoping to open the restaurant in August.
Sorella is currently seeking an executive chef. Interested applicants can email hello@sorellasrq.com or submit an inquiry on their website at sorellasrq.com.
