Last Call Sports Bar to Become R Bar in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, NC — R Bar is in the works at 5395 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28311, where owner Brian Thompson said he has taken over the former Last Call Sports Bar space. Thompson told Business Debut he has been cleaning and freshening up the building, which operated as a bar for more than 20 years before he acquired it.

What to Expect

Thompson is aiming for a dive sports bar atmosphere, with a neighborhood hangout feel similar to the TV show “Cheers.” He said the goal is to “freshen things up a little bit” and bring the space “more up-to-date” while keeping the dive sports bar identity.

Expect drinks and a social atmosphere when R Bar opens.

Opening Timeline

An opening date has not been announced, but the team is targeting mid- to late January.

Thompson also recently acquired and remodeled Credentials Social Club in Pembroke and is now in a soft opening phase at 703 W 3rd St, Pembroke, NC 28372.

Thompson is also the longtime owner of Izzy's Sports Bar in Fayetteville.

Hours

Thompson said he plans to be open seven days a week, likely from 3 p.m.—2 a.m., noting hours are still a “moving target.”
