Described as the most unusual ice cream café you can step into, Lakeland Treats and Trinkets is opening soon, owner Becky Richmond shared with Business Debut. The café, ice cream shop, trinket store, and lunch spot is set to debut in early summer at 270 E Bay St #2150, Lakeland, FL 33801.

The 1,000-square-foot space will offer indoor seating—on antique furniture—and outdoor patio seating. A themed photo wall will reflect destinations from around the world, inspired by Richmond’s own travels. The destination will rotate monthly, providing an ever-changing backdrop for guests.

Indoor seating will include a hand-painted antique table and chair set, a vintage children’s table with a chalkboard top for drawing, and antique ice cream parlor sets. There will also be a community puzzle available for guests to contribute to.

The menu will feature hard scoop ice cream, gelato, dairy-free options, coffee, sandwiches, and salads. Richmond is creating inventive "waffelwiches" and "croissanwiches" inspired by family recipes and global travels. One croissanwich is influenced by a candied pumpkin dish she tasted in Cappadocia, Turkey, and a dessert item will be named after her Grandma Shurley’s cookies.

The trinket shop will reflect Richmond’s passion for unique gadgets and collectibles. One such item is a cylinder cipher box, reminiscent of the one featured in The Da Vinci Code.

Richmond and her husband Ryan, a retired Coast Guard member of 22 years, also own the neighboring Teriyaki Madness franchise. When they saw the space become available, they decided to open the unique Lakeland Treats and Trinkets.
