HERNANDO, FL - Palms of India is set to open April 16, 2026 at 2448 N Heritage Oaks Path, Hernando, FL 34442, introducing authentic Indian cuisine to Citrus County. Owner Jeffrey Singh told Business Debut the restaurant will fill a gap in the local dining scene as the area currently has no other Indian food options.

What to Expect

Palms of India will offer a blend of fast-casual convenience and full-service dining in a 42-seat space. The restaurant will also feature a beer and wine bar, including specialty bottled beers from India and wines sourced from the Punjab region in northern India, where Singh’s father is from.

The menu will focus on authentic North Indian cuisine. Guests can expect staple dishes such as chicken curry, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, chole and bhatura, and garlic naan. Vegetarian options will be available throughout the menu.

Delivery services including DoorDash and Uber Eats will also be offered.

Singh is partnering with his parents, Devinder Singh and Elinor Singh, to bring the concept to life. The family previously owned and operated an Italian restaurant in the Philadelphia area before relocating to Florida.

“My father is actually from India. He was a chef in the Philadelphia area, so we wanted to bring that same passion and that cuisine down to an area that just is not very accessible,” Singh told Business Debut.

The restaurant’s lead chef, Jagjit Singh, Jeffrey’s uncle, recently relocated from Philadelphia, where he served as head chef at an Indian restaurant.

In addition to the core menu, Palms of India will introduce monthly specials incorporating Peruvian influences, reflecting Elinor Singh’s heritage. “Our staple everyday menu is going to be strictly authentic Indian food, and then monthly our specials are going to change having a twist of Peruvian cuisine,” Singh told Business Debut.

Singh described the venture as deeply personal. “This is a family-owned operation. My parents immigrated to this country, and I was actually the first U.S.-born individual in my entire family,” he told Business Debut. “We’re trying to live out the American dream”.
