French Restaurant Claudie's Relocationg from Sarasota to Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, FL – Claudie's, a French-American café from Sarasota, is preparing to open at 5 Southeast 2nd Ave Gainesville, FL 32601, co-owner Aurielle Sagne told Business Debut in a phone interview.

Sagne said she and her husband, Chef Claude, previously operated Claudie's in Sarasota and are relocating the business to Gainesville.

What to Expect

The new Claudie's will serve coffee, breakfast and lunch with both French and American dishes, Sagne told Business Debut. The dining room is planned for about 40 seats inside, with outdoor seating for about 45 to 50 guests.

Claudie's also plans to offer evening service on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with tapas, pizza, beer and wine.

Menu and Vision

Breakfast will highlight French-style pastries, including croissants and almond croissants with flavors such as pistachio and strawberry, Sagne said.

You can also expect classic pastries, like tarts and éclairs.

For savory options, Sagne said Claudie's will offer open-face sandwiches built on a single slice of bread with creamy sauce, ham and cheese, along with versions featuring smoked salmon and avocado. They will also serve French fries made in-house.

Ownership Background

Claudie's is owned by husband-and-wife team Claude and Aurielle Sagne.

"We had the restaurant in Sarasota and we have moved to Gainesville," Sagne said in the interview, adding that some of their most popular dishes there, including an open-face sandwich with smoked salmon and avocado, will appear on the Gainesville menu.

Sagne said their existing website and social media still show Sarasota details and are in the process of being updated for the Gainesville location.

Opening Timeline

Sagne said the team is waiting on final inspections before setting an official opening date. She shared that they hope to open around the end of the week.

After an initial opening period, Claudie's plans to close for about two weeks over Christmas to complete exterior decoration and renovation work. They are targeting the first week of January for an official grand opening with local officials and community guests.
