Float Dirty Soda and Ice Cream Opening in Greensboro
Float will renovate a former car wash into a retro ice cream and dirty soda shop.
GREENSBORO, NC — Float Dirty Soda and Ice Cream is working toward an August opening at 1013 Battleground Ave, Greensboro, NC 27408, as owners Emily Baker and Chase Strange finalize permitting and construction plans, Baker told Business Debut.
Baker and Strange are the owners behind The Daily Grind in Burlington, NC.
What to Expect
The concept will combine a dirty soda bar with a retro-inspired soda fountain and ice cream shop. Baker said the goal is to create a “third place” where guests can gather, socialize, and enjoy non-alcoholic beverages in a nostalgic setting. “We like to build really cool brands and third spaces that people enjoy,” Baker told Business Debut.
The approximately 1,000-square-foot space will feature a central bar upon entry, booth seating, and community tables, with capacity for about 30 to 40 guests inside. The building is a former car wash and will include a roll up-style garage door that can be opened on nice days.
Outdoor seating is also planned, along with curbside pickup supported by a mobile ordering app, Baker told Business Debut.
Menu and Vision
Guests can expect a customizable dirty soda program using Coca-Cola products and flavored syrups, alongside a seasonal menu featuring housemade ingredients and specialty drinks. “We’re going to be doing a build-your-own bar… and then we’ll also be doing a seasonal specialty menu,” Baker told Business Debut.
Ice cream will be sourced from Homeland Creamery, a family-owned dairy in Julian, North Carolina that also supplies products to the owners’ existing concept, The Daily Grind.
Opening Timeline
The team is targeting an August opening, pending permitting approvals and construction progress, Baker told Business Debut.
