Opening Dos Croquetas in Calle Ocho feels like a sort of homecoming for Cuban-American co-owner Alec Fernandez. The Dos Croquetas brand was started in 2016 by Alec Fernandez and Vicky Carballo based on Fernandez's childhood memories of enjoying the snack at ventanitas with his family.
The Calle Ocho location will be the brand's second brick and mortar restaurant. Fernandez said that the buzz has been increasing as the get closer and closer to opening. Frequently, people come through the doors of the building to ask when they will be open.

While the brand is known for their croquetas, they have a broad range of offerings on their menu, from appetizing breakfast dishes, to sandwiches, bowls, desserts, milkshakes and more.
As of now, Fernandez is planning to open a few weeks. An exact opening date hasn't been set yet.
