Barley’s Hideaway Opening in Downtown Avon Park This September
Comfort food, build-your-own pizzas, and barbecue sliders are coming to Avon Park’s new taproom space.

A new family-friendly restaurant with a chef-curated menu and playful pet-themed branding is set to debut in downtown Avon Park this September. Barley’s Hideaway, located at 2 E Main Street, Avon Park, FL 33825 will officially open its doors with a soft launch on September 6, followed by a grand opening on September 13, co-owner Cassandra Vasquez told Business Debut.
Barley’s Hideaway will operate the food service inside The Pour House, a new self-pour taproom featuring 40 beer taps, an open two-story layout, and a relaxed environment designed to bring the community together. The taproom and restaurant are separate but collaborative ventures. Guests will be able to self-serve from the tap wall using RFID bracelets while ordering food from Barley’s Hideaway using QR codes and counter service.
“We really wanted to create a space where families, friends, and beer lovers can all feel welcome,” said Vasquez.

Chef-Inspired Comfort Food with a Personal Touch
The menu reflects the couple’s culinary roots and personal story. Barley is the name of their family dog, an American Bully, and nearly every item is named after pets they’ve loved. Dishes tied to pets who’ve passed on are marked with a halo, honoring their memory in a meaningful way.
Signature items include:
- Spam Fritters, a nostalgic snack that’s already sparking buzz
- Brisket Tacos, BBQ Sliders, and pizzas with a smoky twist
- Protein Bowls catering to health-minded diners from the gym next door
- BBQ Uncrustables made in-house for kids
Guests can build their own pizzas with McLovin’s Create Your Own Pizza, or opt for specialty options like Rocco’s BBQ Pizza or Bari’s Meat Lovers.
“My husband, Francisco, has years of barbecue experience and has competed before,” Vasquez said. “He’s handling the smoking and grilling, and it’s something he truly loves.”
A Space for Everyone
The interior seats up to 110 guests across two floors, with plans for possible dog-friendly features pending city approval. While the operation is fast-casual, it’s designed for comfort—QR-code ordering, casual pickup, and a collection of board games offer a laid-back atmosphere.
Barley’s Hideaway will be open:
- Sunday – Thursday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday – Saturday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Social media pages and a website are expected to go live soon. Photos of Barley, the restaurant’s namesake, will also be featured as part of the brand’s backstory and visual identity.
