Atlanta-Area High Schooler Launches AI Scheduling Software
Founder Noah Marbach did not have a technical background before launching XShift AI.
Noah Marbach, an eighteen-year-old from the greater Atlanta area, has launched an AI startup: XShift AI. The software allows for streamlined employee schedule building that works off of voice prompts as simple as "build me a schedule for next week."
The program is meant to analyze availability, overtime, time off, preferences and many other factors when creating the schedule. "With employee scheduling, there was a clear way of complete differentiation," Marbach told Business Debut.
There are several softwares on the market designed specifically for scheduling employees and managing labor. Even with the tech, Marbach reported that managers are still having to dedicate time to coordinating and building viable weekly work schedules.
"The problem with these legacy softwares is managers are still building schedules manually," he said. "In reality, they’re really just a prettier version of an Excel spreadsheet."
Acquiring Customers
The app was released to the market in December 2025. Marbach shared that in its initial launch, he attracted customers "the old-fashioned" way of cold-calling, walking into businesses, and cold-emailing.
As of late, he has also networked and partnered with consultants, invested in search engine and large language model optimization and Google advertising. Additionally, he said that word of mouth is driving growth.
In addition to these channels, Marbach shared that he has several contractors to help with sales. Marbach reported that he has signed up several 1000+ employee organizations since his launch.
AI Building
XShift AI was not Marbach's first attempt at starting an AI company. He'd built chatbot and voice agent artificial intelligence companies that had failed. Building the AI chatbot and voice agents was his first exposure to building software. He shared that he'd not been computer savvy before these ventures.
The process of building XShift AI took around two to three months. He began building in September 2025 using Cursor, but quickly switched to Claude Code. By December, he launched.
With the speed of launching, Business Debut questioned him about the threat of business owners using AI to build their own tools, rather than pay for another subscription. To this, Marbach was confident that the complexity of a tool like XShift AI would prevent individual operators from building the tool.
"Workforce management is a very defensible category… it’s hard to penetrate due to the high complexities of the app," he said.
Contrast that with his views on the chatbot or voice agent category:
"Pretty much anybody can build a voice agent or chatbot," he said. "Those are very highly competitive, saturated niches."
Future Outlook
Regarding the outlook for XShift AI, Marbach said:
"We want to become the most predominantly used employee scheduling software on the planet."
