1) Duff’s Famous Wings

Address: 3900 Clark Rd, Sarasota, FL 34233

Status: In final buildout; opening date TBA. A walk-in cooler issue pushed timing back.

What to expect: Family-friendly sports bar energy with TVs, shareable plates, and a Buffalo-first attitude.

Menu highlights: Buffalo-style wings using recipes from the original near Buffalo, NY (wings debuted as a Friday night special in 1968 and became permanent in 1969). Heat climbs fast—“medium” reads as “hot.” Expect smash burgers, salads, pizza logs, and classic pub starters.

Who’s behind it: Franchisee Pomegranate Capital (also operates the Tampa Duff’s on Nebraska Ave.). Area manager Tim Williams says the brand moves 5,000–8,000 pounds of wings weekly.

This will be Duff’s second Florida location.

2) Kitchen Social

Address: 257 North Cattleman Dr, Unit 81, Sarasota, FL 34243

Target opening: First week of February (after construction and permitting delays).

The space: Indoor–outdoor design with a large patio, a 40-foot nano wall, and an indoor–outdoor bar. About 145 seats across 35 tables, with patio heaters and vapor misters for year-round use.

Menu & approach: Compact, scratch-made menu (about 34–35 items) influenced by Indian, Asian, Mexican, and Italian cooking. Don’t miss the cheddar-scallion skillet biscuits with honey butter; roughly two-thirds of tables order them. Weekend “cinna biscuit” planned, too.

Value note: Average check lands around $25. The concept aims to feel “right” for everyone, from date nights to weekly regulars.

Background: Founded in Columbus, OH, in 2019; now two locations in Columbus, two in Cleveland, one in Cincinnati. Sarasota is the first location outside Ohio. Leadership team: Brian O’Malley, Phil Yondalino, Brian Harvey, and Justin Stratford.

Planned hours:

  • Mon–Wed: 3 p.m.–9 p.m.
  • Thu: 11 a.m.–9 p.m.
  • Fri–Sat: 11 a.m.–10 p.m.
  • Sun: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.

Wings Etc.

Address: 415 U.S. 41 Bypass N, Venice, FL 34285

Target opening: January 5.

Format: Full-service neighborhood sports bar designed for game days. Seating for ~90 inside and ~35 outside.

Menu: Wings, appetizers, wraps, salads, sandwiches, and burgers—easygoing picks for quick bites or lingering with a game.

Ownership & story: Owner Tim McGivern, a 25-year Venice operator of two Obie’s Soup, Salad and Subs locations. He was encouraged into the franchise by friend Joe Hobbs, who runs multiple Wings Etc. units in Missouri. The build is a family effort with his wife Nancy and children Megan, Brittany, and Tyler.

Planned hours:
Mon–Thu: 11 a.m.–11 p.m.
Fri–Sat: 11 a.m.–1 a.m.
Sun: 11 a.m.–10 p.m.
(Expect to stay open through the end of major sporting events.)

4) The Shebeen Irish Pub & Kitchen

New address: 6607 Gateway Ave., Sarasota, FL 34231

Target opening: February 1, 2026.

The space: A restored local landmark—the former Sarasota Brewing Company building—just over 4,000 square feet with room for ~135 guests. Look for a main bar with traditional Irish snugs, multiple dining rooms, wood siding, stone exterior, and a large fireplace.

Why move: The Siesta Key site struggled with parking and crowding on busy nights. The mainland location boosts capacity and accessibility.

Menu: Irish staples—fish and chips, bangers and mash, corned beef and cabbage—plus more room for weekly entrée and appetizer specials. Fan favorites like sausage rolls in puff pastry and leek-mushroom croquettes stay. Fish and chips remains a focal point.

Ownership & roots: Owner Eileen Carrigan purchased the business from founders Ross and Louise Galbraith (originally Pub 32, later The Shebeen on Siesta Key) and plans to honor the tradition they built.

Planned hours: Open seven days; lunch and dinner six days (kitchen closed Mondays). Doors at 11 a.m., kitchen until 9 p.m., bar until about midnight.
