Voodoo Shrimp Shack Expanding Beyond Food Truck in Yulee
Software developer turned chef Bill Federico shares about his upcoming business expansions.

Owner Bill Federico reported two new developments that are in Voodoo Shrimp Shack’s future: a brick-and-mortar takeout spot and a kitchen takeover at Brew Shed in Yulee.
The food truck started years ago when Federico stepped up to assist his children’s high school band in fundraising. Federico founded the Band Boost Organization as a non-profit and took over football concessions. He quickly increased sales from around $300 a night to $2,500.
Recognizing his ability to cook, Federico began appearing at the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival in Amelia Island and reported breaking their sales record one year.

Federico shared that he is a software developer, and after the success of these efforts, his wife said to him, “Bill, it seems you missed your calling.”
Shortly thereafter, his wife was surprised to find a food truck in their driveway, and Voodoo Shrimp Shack was born. This was about three years ago.
Now, with demand increasing, Federico is opening a takeout spot and prep kitchen at: 850973 US-17, Yulee, FL 32097.
This small building was formerly Carol’s Place, an old gas station and convenience store that was a popular place for kids and families to stop for snacks. Now, it is reportedly haunted (which seems on brand) and is visited by a local black cat for regular food offerings from Federico.
The food truck is already stationed in the parking lot regularly, but this will allow Federico to travel with the trailer and maintain regular service. Expect the shack to open this summer.

In addition to this news, Voodoo Shrimp Shack will take over the kitchen and begin offering its menu at the Brew Shed at: 474305 E State Rd 200, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034. This is a local brewing supply store and brewery that opened a few years ago. You can expect to enjoy the award-winning Voodoo menu of lobster rolls, shrimp rolls, homemade pickles and much more there soon. An exact date for this takeover is not available yet.
Federico, who has no formal training as a chef other than being a “fat Italian” (his words), has received accolades for his food. At the 2023 St. Augustine Lions Seafood Fest, Voodoo Shrimp Shack won the best shrimp dish award for their Amelia Island Shrimp Roll. Their Tuna Poke Roll also won first place for best fish dish, and their Pig & Shrimp Roll won second place for the best overall seafood dish.
Honoring the shrimping community rooted in Amelia Island, Federico serves only fresh-caught Northeast Florida shrimp. Additionally, his homemade pickles, the Extraordinary Voodoo Dill Pickle and the Wicked Hot Reaper Pickle have become popular items in and of themselves.
Keep up with them online and on Facebook for more updates about the openings:
