ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — The Outpost at Old Moultrie, a new mixed-use community hub built from repurposed shipping containers, is targeting an opening about 12 months from now at 2505 Old Moultrie Rd, St. Augustine, FL 32086.

Owner Justin Tahilramani told Business Debut the project will feature modular retail spaces, food and beverage offerings, and a family-focused outdoor area designed to support local businesses and community gatherings.

What to Expect

The Outpost will use upfitted shipping containers constructed by Ohio-based company Uncontained. Each container will arrive about 80 percent complete, including rough-in plumbing, electrical, and insulation, allowing tenants to customize their interiors.
Plans include 10 total containers, with space for both retail and food vendors. The site will also feature a commercial playground for children ages two to twelve and a 70-by-70-foot covered seating structure for guests. The stage area will host community events, outdoor movies, and sports broadcasts.

Two of the containers will be dedicated to food and beverage service — one 40-foot container for a restaurant or two smaller vendors, and a 20-foot space for a coffee or lemonade stand. The development will also include areas for rotating food trucks, continuing the Outpost’s existing tradition of pop-up vendors.
“It’s really going to be an environment that we’re curating to support local businesses and micro retailers,” Tahilramani told Business Debut. He said the goal is to create a destination where families can gather, children can play, and visitors can shop and dine without pressure to spend.

Ownership and Concept

Tahilramani, a retired 20-year military officer, and his wife Jessica are leading the project. He said the concept came from a desire to introduce a family-friendly space in Northeast Florida that emphasizes accessibility and local engagement.
“We wanted to do something that was community, local, and family focused because we felt there wasn’t yet a destination in the area where families could gather without the expectation to spend money,” he said.

Market and Tenants

Applications are currently open for prospective tenants, including retailers, restaurants, and service-based businesses such as a barbershop. Tahilramani said the modular design allows for flexibility in space sizes, giving small business owners an affordable entry point into a commercial location.
The development will also continue to host pop-up markets and local farms, including a Palatka-based cattle operation that sells fresh meat, eggs, and produce.

Opening Timeline

The Outpost at Old Moultrie is targeting an opening roughly 12 months from now, depending on permitting and construction timelines.
