TEQUESTA, FL — Tequesta Smokehouse is bringing barbecue to an existing craft brewery at 287 US-1, Tequesta, FL 33469, with owner Mark Campbell targeting a mid- to late-June launch for the first phase of food service, Campbell told Business Debut.

The brewery (Tequesta Brewing) has previously operated as a beer-and-wine-only business with no food, Campbell told Business Debut. Tequesta Smokehouse will begin with quick-service and to-go barbecue before adding full-service dining toward the end of 2026.

What to Expect

The first phase will allow guests to order barbecue and eat on-site, with seating available in the bar area, dining room and patio, Campbell told Business Debut. The space will have about 60 seats between the indoor dining area and patio.

At launch, service will be cafeteria-style. Later this year, the business plans to add full-service dining with wait staff, along with liquor service and a full bar.

Campbell, a finance professional and CFO by trade, also owns Hog Snappers, a restaurant in the same building. He acquired Hog Snappers in 2018 after it originally opened in 2009.

Pitmaster Brett Chambers will lead the barbecue program at Tequesta Smokehouse, Campbell told Business Debut.

Campbell said he is especially focused on the brisket, which he described as a 14-hour cook and a landmark item for the smokehouse. He also pointed to the truffle mac and cheese, made with fusilli noodles and three cheeses, as a dish he expects to be a top seller after a strong response at a pop-up event.

Campbell said both Hog Snappers and Tequesta Smokehouse have been turnaround situations, with the goal of finding “valuable gems” and making them viable and sustainable for the long run. In the case of the brewery, Campbell said adding a significant food component was the primary purpose.

“There’s advantages to having a brewery,” Campbell told Business Debut. “Beer and barbecue go really good together.”

Beer and Smokehouse Details

The brewery will continue serving beer and wine at first, Campbell told Business Debut. Its most popular beer is Chancellor, a German Kolsch, and the brewery also offers IPAs including Contraband and PGA.

Campbell said the brewery produces about six core beers, with seasonal variations that can include pumpkin beer, coffee beer and other rotating profiles. The team also plans to use beer in some food ingredients and host future events such as meet-the-pitmaster and brewmaster experiences.

The smokehouse includes two 2,000-gallon smokers from Texas. Campbell said the team held a community naming contest for the smokers, and the winning names were Smokey and the Bandit, a tribute to Burt Reynolds, who previously lived in Jupiter.

Opening Timeline

Tequesta Smokehouse is targeting a mid- to late-June opening for its initial quick-service and to-go barbecue phase, subject to construction, Campbell told Business Debut.

Full-service dining and a full bar with liquor are planned toward the end of 2026.

Hours

The brewery is open six days a week, noon - 11 p.m., and closed Mondays, Campbell told Business Debut.

When food service begins, barbecue will initially be available Friday through Sunday from noon until sellout. Campbell said the team is developing an online preorder system because the barbecue is cooked in long batches and will be sold until it runs out.
