Taste of Soul Opening a Brick and Mortar Spot in Wilson
This will be the brand's first brick and mortar after years of catering.
WILSON, NC — Taste of Soul is planning to open its first brick-and-mortar at 205 Tarboro St. SW, Wilson, NC 27893, with owner Quincy Jones targeting a mid- to late-April opening pending final permits, Jones told Business Debut.
What to Expect
The Wilson location will operate as a fast-casual, primarily to-go concept, Jones told Business Debut. Customers will order at a service window and receive their food from that same window.
Taste of Soul will have limited outdoor seating, with a few seats in front and additional seating potentially added in the back, Jones told Business Debut.
Menu and Vision
Jones described the menu as a modern take on traditional soul food. He told Business Debut that the concept is rooted in soul food but also leaves room for fusion, seasonal specials, and his own interpretations of classic dishes.
“We root it in a modern on traditional soul food,” Jones told Business Debut. He added that his travel and culinary background influence the menu and inspire new flavor combinations and rotating features.
Jones said Taste of Soul has been operating as a catering business since 2018. Before launching his own company, he worked in several restaurants, attended culinary school, and gained experience in hotels and country clubs, he told Business Debut.
He also said his mother’s cooking and family Sunday dinners helped shape his love for food. Taste of Soul will continue its catering and private chef services even after the Wilson restaurant opens, Jones told Business Debut.
Opening Timeline
The Wilson restaurant will be Taste of Soul’s first brick-and-mortar location. Jones told Business Debut the team is aiming for a mid- to late-April debut, though the timeline depends on permits and final approvals.
Jones said he sees this opening as the first step in the brand’s long-term growth, with additional concepts and expansion planned in the future.
Hours
Taste of Soul plans to operate Tuesday through Saturday, Jones told Business Debut.
