Sunset Restaurant Returning to Franklin Under New Ownership
The longstanding restaurant is being renovated and re-opened soon.
FRANKLIN, NC – Sunset Restaurant, the longtime Franklin staple, is being revived by couple Jesse and Paige Green with a planned reopening in late May or early June at 498 Harrison Ave, Franklin, NC 28734, Jesse Green told Business Debut.
What to Expect
Originally opened in 1945, Sunset Restaurant is the oldest restaurant in Franklin and has served the community for more than 80 years, Green told Business Debut. The Greens took over the restaurant in late November from former owners Michael and Renee McCall and have since completed a full renovation while expanding the dining room to seat about 130 guests.
The updated space will feature a more open layout, additional seating and a refreshed interior while maintaining the restaurant’s longstanding character.
“We still want to have that classic charm,” Green told Business Debut.
Menu and Vision
Sunset Restaurant will continue its focus on Southern comfort food, including fried chicken, baked chicken, hamburger steak, turkey and dressing and its well-known homemade pies, Green told Business Debut.
Green said the goal is to preserve the identity of Sunset while updating the experience. “We wanted to keep the sunset, but…refresh a little bit, but also honor that legacy and the history,” he told Business Debut.
Jesse and Paige Green, who also own Graff’s Tavern and Yogi’s Neighborhood Grill, said their journey to Franklin has been shaped by both faith in God and community support. After relocating from Panama City Beach, the couple said they were welcomed into the area and have built their business with local backing.
“Franklin feels like home…we just love this community so much," Green said.
Opening Timeline
The team is targeting a reopening in late May or early June, ahead of the start of summer, Green told Business Debut.
Hours
Sunset Restaurant plans to operate six days a week, closed on Tuesdays.
Hours will include lunch and dinner during the week, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served on Saturdays and Sundays, Green told Business Debut.
