From Pop-Up to Brick-and-Mortar
Sugar Loaf’s journey began as a farmers market pop-up in 2020 when Lindsay and Nebiyu, longtime professional dancers turned chefs, transformed their pandemic downtime into recipe development. Combining influences from their Albanian and Ethiopian heritages with years of culinary work in New York, Chicago, and Atlanta, they’ve spent five years cultivating a loyal following.
“We always have the brick and mortar as an end goal; this has been a very strategic journey for us, testing out the concept as a pop-up,” Lindsay shared. “This is our fifth year as a pop-up, and all the hard work that we've put into trying to find a consistent customer base, planting a root somewhere has finally paid off.”
The name “Sugar Loaf” honors Lindsay’s upbringing on Sugarloaf Court in Virginia and Nebiyu’s Georgia roots near Sugarloaf Parkway.
Until the brick-and-mortar opens, Sugar Loaf continues to engage with the community at farmers markets every Saturday at Piedmont Park Green Market and Sundays at Grant Park Farmers Market.
Opening Hours and Parking
Specific opening hours and seating capacity have yet to be finalized, but may be shared closer to the opening. Expect breakfast and lunch service.
For parking, Sugar Loaf customers will benefit from two hours of free parking in the nearby parking garage. Customers can also take advantage of free street parking in the nearby neighborhood.
