ATLANTA, GA — A new speakeasy-style bar called The Boiler Room is planned for Upper West Market at 1385 Collier Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. Owner Kraig Torres told Business Debut the concept will be operated by the Hop City team and is targeting a mid-to-late May opening, following the debut of the broader Upper West Market.

The bar will be located inside the market’s original boiler room space within the former chicken processing plant that now houses the development.

Business Debut saw the story first from WhatNow.

What to Expect

Upper West Market is designed more as a maker’s market than a traditional food hall, with stalls featuring producers and artisans. Torres said the concept could be compared to Seattle’s Pike Place Market, bringing together vendors such as farmers, cheesemakers, and seafood purveyors alongside restaurants.

Within that environment, The Boiler Room will operate as a hidden bar tucked into the back of the building. Guests will enter through an unmarked door near the rear of the market.

“You can totally experience the market in a completely functional way, or you can sneak back into the boiler room,” Torres told Business Debut.

The space will seat about 30 guests and will also serve an adjacent outdoor patio featuring seating and a large screen. Guests will be able to bring drinks from the bar into the market while exploring vendors or order oysters and goods from vendors to enjoy in the bar.

The Boiler Room will focus on a curated beverage program consistent with Hop City’s reputation for craft beer and specialty drinks.

The bar will feature roughly 24 beers on draft, along with a selection of wines by the glass and bottle and a full cocktail program. Torres said the concept will also offer THC beverages and cocktails, along with non-alcoholic options.

The design highlights the building’s industrial character with tall ceilings, exposed brick, and uplighting. Local street artist Catlanta will contribute murals to the space.

Torres described the aesthetic as adaptable from daytime to evening. “In the daytime, it’ll be bright and sunny, perfect for a glass of Chardonnay, and in the evening it’ll be moodier and darker, perfect for a date night,” he told Business Debut.

Opening Timeline

Upper West Market is expected to open around mid-April. The Boiler Room will follow slightly behind the rest of the vendors due to additional structural work required in the historic space.

Torres said the bar is targeting a mid-to-late May opening.

Hours

Hours are to be announced and may evolve as the market establishes its operating rhythm. Torres said the team anticipates a mix of daytime traffic, evening visits, and private events.
