Southern Breakfast Spot Opening in Fleming Island
Grumpy’s Restaurant will open a larger Fleming Island location featuring Southern breakfast favorites, expanded seating, and a new full bar.
Grumpy’s Restaurant is preparing to open a new location at 1803 East West Parkway, Fleming Island, FL 32003. Grumpy’s Restaurant The restaurant is expected to open in early April 2026, although an exact date has not yet been announced.
Owned by Dell Hoard Jr., his wife Courtney Hoard, and his parents Dell Hoard Sr. and Peggy Hoard, the Fleming Island location will be larger than their first restaurant in Middleburg and will introduce a full bar, expanding the dining experience for guests.
“This store is much bigger than the previous location that we have now,” Dell Hoard Jr. said. “The extra square footage allows us to do a lot more with this upcoming Grumpy’s.”
Menu
The Fleming Island restaurant will offer the original Grumpy’s menu, focusing on Southern-style breakfast and lunch dishes known for generous portions.
“You can’t go wrong first and foremost with our omelets,” Hoard said. “My personal favorite is probably our Meat Lovers Omelet.”

Additional menu highlights include pancakes, fried chicken Benedict, hamburgers, and other breakfast and lunch staples.
“I think we just have a really great food quality,” Hoard said. “Anything from our pancakes to our hamburgers is awesome.”
Location
The Fleming Island location will seat approximately 140 to 150 guests, compared to about 105 to 110 seats at the Middleburg restaurant.
The larger space allows for several new features, including a private meeting or birthday room for small gatherings, a kids’ arcade area, expanded indoor seating to reduce outdoor wait times, and a dedicated to-go pickup area designed to improve traffic flow.
The Fleming Island restaurant will also introduce a full bar offering beer, wine, and liquor, an addition that is not available at the Middleburg location.
“There’s a lot more room that allows us to do things we just couldn’t do at the Middleburg location.”Hoard said.
Grumpy’s Restaurant also offers catering for breakfast and lunch events. Catering options range from traditional breakfast items such as biscuits, sausage, gravy, and home fries to lunch offerings including meatloaf and turkey meals.
Ownership
The Fleming Island Grumpy’s Restaurant is owned by Dell Hoard Jr., Courtney Hoard, Dell Hoard Sr., and Peggy Hoard.
The Hoard family opened their first Grumpy’s franchise location in Middleburg in October 2020. According to Hoard, the decision to expand came after strong community support and steady growth at their original restaurant.
“This was our first venture with Grumpy’s, and it has been a great experience so far,” Hoard said. “Opening a second location with my family is a big step for us.”
With the Fleming Island opening, the Hoard family hopes to recreate the same sense of familiarity and community they have built at their Middleburg restaurant.
“We have a close-knit group of regulars who come in every day,” Hoard said. “It really feels like one big family, and we want to bring that same environment to Fleming Island.”
Hours
Grumpy’s Restaurant will be open Monday through Sunday from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The restaurant will be closed only on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
