Smashbird Bringing Grab-and-Go Burgers to Savannah
The owners of several other local restaurants are launching a new brand.
SAVANNAH, GA — Smashbird, a new fast-casual burger concept from owners Christine and David Cutlip, is targeting a mid-July opening at 13051 Abercorn St, Ste B5, Savannah, GA 31419, Christine Cutlip told Business Debut in a recent phone interview.
The Cutlips also operate Savannah Seafood Shack, Savannah Smokehouse BBQ and Brew, Yatai Ramen + Yakitori, and Sally Mae's in the Savannah area, Cutlip shared with Business Debut.
What to Expect
The core of the menu is a thin, crispy smashburger. Cutlip described it as a "true smash burger" with vegetables grilled directly into the patty.
The cheeseburger will be priced at $7.99, with a focus on freshness and what Cutlip called bringing food "back to where it used to be, where it used to be fresh, it used to be cheaper."
Smashbird will also serve hand-breaded chicken tenders, fresh wings and a thin, seasoned shoestring fries. Smashbird will emphasize sauces and a casual, "drippy and messy" experience that fits the brand tagline, "it ain't that serious."
She told Business Debut the goal is to build a crave-driven, brand-focused concept that is operationally tight and scalable to other college and young professional markets.

The dining room will have a bench-style seating area with about seven small tables for quick dine-in visits, and Cutlip described the restaurant as primarily grab-and-go. Ordering will center on self-service kiosks, with a point-of-sale station staffed at the front for guests who want to order with a person.
Guests will also be able to order by scanning a QR code on their phones, and the restaurant is integrating with DoorDash and Uber Eats for third-party delivery, Cutlip told Business Debut.
Opening Timeline
Smashbird is targeting a mid-July opening, pending arrival and installation of remaining kitchen equipment, Cutlip told Business Debut.
Staff training is underway at the owners’ other restaurants, and Cutlip estimated the project is about four weeks from opening as of the June interview.
An exact opening date is to be announced.
