Two new locations of the food truck brand turned brick and mortar franchise are opening in St. Pete. Owner Ronicca Whaley told FFBW that after opening 5 food trucks in Florida, she is expanding Shiso Crispy rapidly with brick and mortar locations.

The first of the two new units will open at: 1431 Central Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33705. Whaley estimates opening in a couple of weeks. They will serve their delicious menu of bao buns, dirty rice, gyoza and much more.

The other St. Pete unit will open at: 1050 58th St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710 in the Tyrone Garden shopping center. In addition to the food menu, this restaurant will feature a tap wall serving beer and wine. An exact opening timeline isn't clear, but Whaley said that it will be soon.

Shiso Crispy is also planning franchised locations in Siesta Key, Sarasota, Palm Harbor and even in Omaha, Nebraska. Numerous others are in the works.

The brand started four years ago right around the time the pandemic struck. After working as a chef in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Whaley came to Florida to start her own business. Fast forward to 2024, and she has 5 trucks open, two restaurants in the works, and numerous other franchised units lined up as well.
