LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL — Mr. Shrimp Chicken & Seafood is expected to open in February at 2424 N. State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes, according to COO Jamila Abraham.

The Lauderdale Lakes restaurant will be the brand’s fifth brick-and-mortar location, adding to a growing footprint that also includes a food truck with a permanent location. With another brick-and-mortar restaurant planned to open in March 2026, the company will have a total of seven locations, including the food truck, and is actively seeking franchise partners as it continues to expand.

Mr. Shrimp Chicken & Seafood focuses on Cajun-style seafood and comfort food made fresh to order.

Guests can build their own bowls by choosing boiled or fried seafood, along with proteins such as fried chicken strips and beef sausage.

The menu also includes signature bowls such as the Palm Beach Bowl, the Miami Bowl, which features items such as black beans and mango salsa, and the Nola Bowl, a Cajun-style pasta inspired by New Orleans flavors.

Seafood boils are a core part of the menu and include boil bags and family-style boils featuring shrimp and crab, served with traditional sides such as corn and potatoes. Fried items are also featured, and the Lauderdale Lakes location is expected to offer additional fried options, including calamari.

Abraham said the restaurant places a strong emphasis on preparation, with seasonings and broth prepared over several days, beans cooked in-house, and garlic butter made from scratch.

A family-founded concept

Mr. Shrimp Chicken & Seafood was founded by Abraham’s parents, who opened the original location while she and her brother were growing up. The restaurant became a staple in its hometown, with the family working together as the business developed.

After their father became ill, Abraham and her brother returned to help continue the business and began expanding the concept into additional markets.

Today, Jamila Abraham serves as chief operating officer. Her brother, Hick Abraham, serves as chief executive officer.

Continued growth

In addition to its brick-and-mortar locations, Mr. Shrimp Chicken & Seafood also operates a food truck with a permanent location.

The company continues to expand and has a seventh location in development that is expected to open in March.
