Saucehouse, located at 830 W Broad St, Athens, GA 30601, has temporarily closed the doors to its restaurant for renovations, owner and founder Christopher Belk shared with Business Debut. The restaurant, a local favorite for nearly 12 years, plans to reopen in March with updates aimed at enhancing its catering and event services.

Originally established as a restaurant and bar, Saucehouse’s catering business has become the backbone of its operations. In 2021, Belk expanded by purchasing a venue space across the street, which has since become a key part of Saucehouse’s events offering. The renovations on the restaurant space will allow for an expanded catering menu, including Italian and Southern-style options, and the capability to handle upscale plated events too.

Updates to the space include converting the interior of the restaurant into a space capable of serving as an event building, transforming the beer garden into an inviting area for private events and outdoor weddings, and installing a wall in the beer garden to minimize street noise from Broad Street. Additionally, the parking lot is being expanded to accommodate larger event crowds.

While the restaurant operations are on hold, Saucehouse is still offering catering seven days a week. Guests can also pre-order individual BBQ meals for Friday pick-up by placing their orders by noon on Thursdays. For catering inquiries or to place orders, visit Saucehouse’s website.

Look for Saucehouse to re-open in March if all continues as planned.
