LABELLE, FL — Sassy Basskets, a longtime Labelle food truck, is preparing to open a full-service restaurant at 330 N Bridge Street, Labelle, FL 33930, owner Amber Bass told Business Debut in a phone interview.

Bass said she expects to open before the end of the year, pending buildout and inspections.

What to Expect

The new Sassy Basskets will seat about 90 guests and operate as a full-service restaurant. The food truck will retire once the restaurant opens.

Bass said the restaurant will feature Sunday brunch, themed buffet nights and a smoker out back for specials.

Sassy Basskets is known for home-style comfort foods and a wide ranging menu.

“I do all sorts of food,” Bass told Business Debut. “Seafood, pasta, Italian, Mexican, American, everything.”

Events and specials will include a Sunday brunch buffet, an all-you-can-eat pasta bar on Mondays and an all-you-can-eat salad bar on select nights. Sassy Basskets will continue to serve seafood, burgers and the “classics that people love,” Bass said.

Bass also said she is going through alcohol permitting to determine what the restaurant will be able to serve in terms of beer, wine and spirits.

Ownership Background

“I’ve been in the restaurant business since I was fifteen,” Bass told Business Debut.

She said she worked in all types of restaurants before deciding to open her own business. “I bought a food truck and just went with it,” Bass said.

Sassy Basskets launched almost six years ago, with its grand opening during Swamp Cabbage Festival, Bass shared with Business Debut.

Bass said community involvement remains central to the business.

She described efforts such as back-to-school Amazon wish lists for teachers, support for youth sports and annual free Thanksgiving meals for people who do not have anywhere to go for the holiday.

Opening Timeline

Bass said she is targeting an opening “before the first of the year.”

The space at 330 N Bridge Street is being converted from a former antique shop into a restaurant, which Bass said has made the licensing and inspection process more complex.

An exact opening date remains to be announced.

Hours

Bass said she is planning initial daily hours of 10 a.m. — 10 p.m.

The restaurant is expected to open seven days a week.

Bass said she would like to add breakfast on weekends and eventually every day after the restaurant settles in.
